Another post about this inspired me to write this. What if a player got to choose if he wants to have a K/D ratio or not? There are always players who seek just to have fun and and be relaxed while playing and not worry about negative K/D ratio. You could have an option when creating a character to choose if you want to have K/D ratio on it or not? |

While KDR doesn't always determine win or loss it is a very important statistic. The real problem is that we don't have any other character information (and even when we do some people will still only look at that). So no KDR should stay.
If you are managing a professional corp it will be important to look at player stats and function to see if a member or future member is doing a good job. And once all of the features are implemented and this game goes live some players will be taking this game far more seriously than other shooters.
While a positive KDR may not be important if you are a support role and doing a good job of keeping the rest of your team alive, you are probably less useful if you are assault with a negative KDR. |

For those just looking to have some quick fun without getting into the complexities of corps and low/null sec conflicts, I don't see why they would need to have a KDR measured if they don't want it. Why not just ignore the KDR and not care? |

It's just statistics, don't let it bother you or just laugh at how good/bad you are. it matters little what gets recorded and what does not.

The only problem I have with k/d ratio is thats all that is measured.
It does not include stuff like capturing important points, how many people you saved with a nanite injector, ect. If it is to be used a a measurement then it better include alot more info.
The other problem with the k/d method is some people only look to fill that kill side and tend to not be very interested in helping capture and hold a point. A good example is a dropships flying around with all seats full but never trying to land and capture a point they just ride around getting +25 for the gunners kills. Thing is we could use those extra people on the ground instead of just riding around getting SP's. Its not like they can shoot out the doors with the gunners.....

How about a positive/negative ratio? Or an overall score rating rather than a ratio? For following objectives given by your squad leader and getting kills and whatnot you get points, for not following orders and getting killed and whatnot you loose points. That encourages squad unity and team work. Maybe make it so that the higher your overall score for the match was, the bigger your SP and ISK bonus at the end of the battle. You could have this score out next to K/D ratio and people would be able to see who was just going for kills and who was actually working as a team with their squad to complete objectives. |

Ok, I KNOW it's picky, but KDR is a ratio and CANNOT be negative! It can be greater than one or less than one, but unless you kill negative people or die negative times it must be a positive number.
Thankyou

By positive negative ratio I wasn't suggesting positive or negative deaths, I was suggesting positive or negative overall points depending on what you accomplished or failed to accomplish in battle. As in you have this many positive points compared to this many negative points. It's still an x/y system, but it uses your overall battle performance to determine your score instead of just your kill/death ratio |

Losing points for not following orders would be bad idea. What if you respawn and die on the way back to the order point???

Good point on the deaths. Hmm, maybe the p/n ratio was never meant to be... but I still stand by an overall achievement score. The more things you do to help your team the higher your score. That way healers, mechanics, swarmers, everybody who doesn't often get a chance to go out and get kills can be respected for their contributions to their team. |

Yeah, you got that right, but sometimes it is hard to ignore as K/D tends to show up for other players to see, some people wants to be private about it? Otherwise I like your statement :) |

How about both KDR and WPs displaying at the end of a match. We need to know whose pulling their own weight and someone who runs around and needlessly hacks points isn't doing anything if they aren't keeping the enemy at bay. |

Agreed, something should show up so that you see why some people has so many deaths. |

in my humble opinion, a kdr promotes a singularly competitive environment, ie one where the kdr is king and *some players will relentlessly pursue the best kdr they can, often to the detriment of the squad/team/corp. Personally, I feel the only statistics that are important are corp stats. However, this may just be because I sacrifice kdr for the benefit of the greater good. |

I've tried that, but they don't want to get out, they just sit in it waiting to get points. The only time they "might" get out is if the dam thing is on FIRE! |

K/D should stay
stats should be expanded to all enviromental point grabs down to how many people you have knifed ran over, blown up with a tank, hit with a drop ship, how many cannon kills you get, grenade kills, headshots, etc. :V It should be down to the Finite of details. |
