Only just started playing the beta, but there seems to be a very large chasm in strength between a new player and one who has several million SP. Money is easy enough to get because you get it just for taking part, but if you can't kill people, you can't get SP.
Now this works fine in EVE because SP works differently, and you have the AI to farm on to help you out when you have a beginner set-up, so shouldn't there be a similar way for new players to get a chance to become competitive in Dust also?
Either some sort of training mode against AI or a "New Recruits" only battle mode would make it much easier to give new skilled recruits a fighting chance on an even-footing.
It's not too bad currently, but the longer the game goes on for, the harder it will get to attract new players, and a game without new blood coming in will never survive.
Another possibility is to give a large SP bonus for killing a much stronger opponent, this would allow the current game style to stay the same (of having new players as cannon fodder), but would stop the SP gap from becoming quite as harsh. However going 1/10 in every battle will still put quite a few new people off the game.
I doubt any of these ideas will be popular with the already strong players, because people like to 'pwn the noobs', but i think it needs to be done for longevity.

New recruits mode is a very good idea! As there is no level system like character is level 10, a time limit would be good, like when you are new you are able to play on the new recruits server for 10 hours or so, +1 to you |

your concern has been brought up in many threads and rest assured that CCP has this issue at the forefront of thier minds. matches are supposed to be arranged by suit, ping and sp to help prevent the higher sp guys owning the new people. This also helps promote the migration from High sec pub matches to low sec faction warfare. |

I currently have 7 mill sp. However my toon was deleted by accident a few days ago. So while I was waitingcfor ccp to recover my toon I rerolled a new one so I could keep playing. I rolled the scout type and went 17 kills and one loss my first match with the starter fit and a charge sniper rifle. The next 10reason battles or so I never had a negative kills to losses and having less than a mill in sp. Using sniper and assault starter gear mostly.
So my thought on your thread is you just are not any good and no matter how much sp you have you will still probably stay around 1 kill and 10 deaths. Sorry. my suggestion is get better first without worrying about your kds or how many sp you have because they make less of a difference than you are assuming. |

NOT TRUE! while ill admit that gun skill in a game like this ISSS important, the STATS behind it are EQUALLY important. Are you seriously telling me that someone with a duvolle AR with lvl 5 weaponry, and lvl 5 AR proficiency in an Advanced assault suit, WONT have an advantage over someone in a starter kit with a low sp level????? i mean... come on! no matter how good i am, if i find someone with equal skill to mine and they have a better fit then what i have on, then they will almost always win! Its not an opinion, its fact! A game like this is literally driven by statistics, and before you go and try to pat yourself on the back by talking about how you "went 17 and 1 with a sniper rifle" keep in mind that when your sniping you literally sit up on a hill and try to pick people off at a distance, even i can do that, and i have done that. Its just a matter of waiting till they stand still so you can get the easy headshot (i say easy because after a few seconds of scoping theres absolutely no sniper sway) so in my opinion i believe there should be some sort of compensation for newer players, or atleast a training simulator against Bots to help give them skill points for a while. |

Has there ever been any talking about possibly scaling your SP for a kill based on how much SP the other player has? Or maybe the sum of their gear's meta level?
Not permanent but say, up to 1 mil SP or something. Keep the current SP value the same, just add in a bonus if you take out a high level player. Or is something like that just going to be exploited too much to even be worthwhile? |

You could Join ZionTCD and squad with our guys and gain more SP.
A wipe will be taking place soon in the time span of 1-3 weeks and everyone is starting over at 0.
If you are struggling in the Kill department try this:
Become a logi and use repair tools and nano injector's
Utilize D-Uplinks and Nano Hives which generates SP each time a teammates uses them.
Put basic AV nades on an outfit for quick LAV kill's
CAPTURE OBJECTIVE's
Be a Squad leader:
DO your best to become Squad leader and utilize the role when you do have it (ether at random or make a spuad) SL's gain leader commission from the efforts of their team.
Use Squad Commands and fight around them (even if its just putting a Defend order on yourself just stay close to your teammates)
If you place a Defend Order on a Vehicle and have your team fight around it, your teams kill SP goes up from 50 to 125 and the leader gets 75 for each teammate kills

Well I'm sure you and your mum are really proud of yourself, but that isn't the point of this thread, my k/d ratio is pretty much always positive, this thread is about trying to improve the game for the future. In fact that is what this whole beta test is about, perhaps you shouldn't be here if you don't understand that. |
