Only just started playing the beta, but there seems to be a very large chasm in strength between a new player and one who has several million SP. Money is easy enough to get because you get it just for taking part, but if you can't kill people, you can't get SP.
Now this works fine in EVE because SP works differently, and you have the AI to farm on to help you out when you have a beginner set-up, so shouldn't there be a similar way for new players to get a chance to become competitive in Dust also?
Either some sort of training mode against AI or a "New Recruits" only battle mode would make it much easier to give new skilled recruits a fighting chance on an even-footing.
It's not too bad currently, but the longer the game goes on for, the harder it will get to attract new players, and a game without new blood coming in will never survive.
Another possibility is to give a large SP bonus for killing a much stronger opponent, this would allow the current game style to stay the same (of having new players as cannon fodder), but would stop the SP gap from becoming quite as harsh. However going 1/10 in every battle will still put quite a few new people off the game.
I doubt any of these ideas will be popular with the already strong players, because people like to 'pwn the noobs', but i think it needs to be done for longevity.

I rolled the scout type and went 17 kills and one loss my first match with the starter fit and a charge sniper rifle. The next 10reason battles or so I never had a negative kills to losses and having less than a mill in sp. Using sniper and assault starter gear mostly.
So my thought on your thread is you just are not any good and no matter how much sp you have you will still probably stay around 1 kill and 10 deaths. Sorry. my suggestion is get better first without worrying about your kds or how many sp you have because they make less of a difference than you are assuming.
Well I'm sure you and your mum are really proud of yourself, but that isn't the point of this thread, my k/d ratio is pretty much always positive, this thread is about trying to improve the game for the future. In fact that is what this whole beta test is about, perhaps you shouldn't be here if you don't understand that. |
