Quick, a few comments from a long time EVE player and a dedicated DUST player.
Forum posting in EVE and DUST, if you have thin skin don't post, don't even read them. Most threads on EVEO usually end up as nothing more than flame wars.
Reputation, what stinking reputation? (sarcasm) Goons are known for their griefing and trolling on the forums. The reputation that you are worried about should be whether or not you are able to complete your contracts using what ever it takes to win, period. Goons are also known for being able to bring the fight to you even when they are outclassed as they were in the early days of the BOB war. I hated Goons and hated being in their ts lobby having to listen to all the coc*, dic*, cun*, and yomomma talk while waiting for a drag into combat coms channel.
Open recruiting, the good and the bad. You will need a broad base of players who enjoy playing all the styles of play in Dust. Unfortunately it is looking like there will have to be very intense specialization in the beginning to be good at any of them. Over 4 mill sp poured into your dropsuit and about the same into your core survival skills and weapons.
BOB had a 10 mill sp and the ability to fly a fully t2 fitted battleship requirement in order to join them. As they won against ASCN some of the better players began leaving their old corps and joining the bandwagon of an alliance that seemed destined to conquer all of EVE. This gave them an advantage in that their bs fleets were able to warp in at 200 km and kill where the average range of their opponents was only 150 km . This changed over time as their opponents focused their own training and became better at what was needed. You will be able to do the same in Dust, taking in newer players and giving them guidance in the direction they need to work toward regardless of the type of playstyle they have.
Failure cascade what is it? http://www.tentonhammer.com/node/71300 Seven pages of must read for anyone not familiar with EVE and the meta game in general. This will effect your recruiting in that no matter what you do there will always be the possibility that your new recruit actually works for the other side.
Edit: This is not just for STB but to all you guys who are joining matches as squads. I don't know if you are using some form of ts or just staying in squad but you need to join team coms so there is more coordination among players. You will also get to know a little more about the guys you are playing with and against because sometimes they are on your side. |
