ill agree with that, but ill also disagree with that. back when i was but a wee lad, getting into fps games i played this game called F.E.A.R this was right around when the ps3 came out, and at the time i didn't even have online access so i was stuck playing that games version of "pve" (which was basically a secondary mission thing) the reason i played that was because i thought the single player was too scary at the time. There were three difficulties on this mode, and i worked my way up to the hardest one. Eventually i got scary good at that game mode, and eventually i was able to start playing online..... right off the bat it was obvious what an advantage i had over other people. I almost always did well, and i attribute most of that success to my AI training. Take black ops for example. you can fight AI on hard difficulty there. The reaction time for those bots are INSANE, buttttt if you get good at killing them. what does that say for other human players online? (who have no way of reacting that quickly?) it means your going to win a lot of one on one engagements. However.... while AI enemies are good at getting your gunplay up, and help you get a feel for the game, they lack the human ability to "think." Thats where real gameplay comes in handy, but honestly that goes in line with the idea of "experience" once someone gets enough real experience they should be just fine. So in conclusion, do i think that there should be a tutorial? sure! should there be a bot arena tutorial? absolutely! (so long as there isn't any glitches that let you abuse it like there was in black ops) HOWEVERRRRR what many people are forgetting is that this game is going to be almost if not/ just as deep as EVE is. And for a game that deep, its going to be best to get someone to ACTUALLY teach you. Take the EVE university corp as an example of that. There goal is simply to teach people the basic ropes of the game and i can gaurantee you that people just like them will be in dust 514. lol i can see it already, sqauds of newbies getting deployed with one experianced vet, just trying to get them used to the game, and how to work as a team. (and also the best fits to use) what do you guys think? |
