Justicar Kel wrote:Jon Bon wrote:Just to confirm. He has since tried creating a new squad without inviting you or anyone else and disbanded it, and that has not freed up your character to join matches?
He has, joined Instant battle solo in his own squad (with him as leader) quit battle and left squad. I can not get invites, give invites, or join Instant battle still.
(I was the guy testing the bug with Justicar)
Correction: when i returned from reset i too was not in a squad nor did i create my own squad. I could not create my own. I simply joined instant battle and immediately chose to move to a different squad. I then left that squad and the battle. When i returned to Merc Quarters i was then fixed and able to create my own squad and all once again. Unfortunately it did not free up Justicar.
Just wanted to clarify that.

UPDATE:
Justicar Kel has been freed from the squad lock.
He restarted his client and upon return was left in the same state that a squad leader with the bug would be in (i.e. Able to join battles, but not able to create squad)
He joined a battle, moved to different squad, chose to leave squad and left the battle. Problem fixed.
Therefore, In order to fix the bug the original squad leader must leave a squad. Any squad. Even just one the game randomly puts him in through instant battle. He just has to choose "leave squad" at some point, any point. Then, and only after the leader has left a squad of some kind, the former squad mate must restart his client and upon return he will be then able to enter instant battle.
If your former leader does not leave a squad, you will be forever locked. That is the key. Therefore, Take note of your squad leader in every match and add him as a contact incase you get bugged and need to ask him to leave a squad to fix you.
Tips to continue playing worry free by avoiding the bug:
Option 1: Before every match, take note of your squad leader. Before the match ends check to be sure he is still squad leader. If not, leave squad immediately. Better still, always leave the squad before a battle ends to be safe.
Option 2: Create a squad of your own and lock it. You will be a one man squad in battle, but you'll be able to play worry free.
Option 3: Create a squad and leave it open. As leader, if you encounter a reason to reboot client/system, you'll be fine..... but whoever ends up placed in that squad will fall victim to the bug. This is not recommended as it will leave players unable to play....but you'll be fine.
Bug recap broken down because A) i'm bored and B) people seem to have trouble understanding the various scenarios....
Scenario 1: You were a squad leader and had to reboot the game/system for some reason during a game. You logged back in and found you could not create/join/leave a squad or receive invites. You can enter instant battle and get into a game.
Solution 1: Enter a game. Press select and go to team. Choose a squad with and empty slot and move to it. Then leave the squad and exit the game. When you return to Merc Quarters you will be fixed.
Scenario 2: You were a squad member. You're leader left the battle for some reason.
Solution 2: Leave the squad immediately!! As soon as you see your leader gone, leave that squad. You have to leave the squad before that leader returns to the game. If you do, you will not be bugged.
Scenario 3: You were a squad member. Your leader left the battle for some reason. You didn't/couldn't leave the squad. You realize you can't join a battle because you're supposedly in a squad. You decide to reboot your game/system.
Solution 3: Since you rebooted before leaving the squad, the bugged squad leader must perform solution 1. Players in his squad at the time he left battle will remain locked in a phantom squad and unable to create/join/leave a squad and unable to enter any battles. It is up to the leader to fix the problem. After the leader performs solution 1, the squad member must reboot the game. When you return you will have the symptoms of Scenario 1. Follow Solution 1 and fix it. Welcome back! No more bug.
Scenario 4: Same as scenario 3, but you don't have any way to contact the original bugged squad leader to ask him to do Solution 1.
Solution 4: Sorry, but you're beat. All you can do is wait for that original leader to realize he's bugged and leave a squad at some point and release you from the ball and chain he's unwittingly attached to you. There is no fix for the bug if you cannot get the squad leader to enter and leave a squad. All you can do now is wait for CCP to officially fix it.
I believe that covers everything. If you've got a unique scenario let us know and maybe we can figure it out. CCP is being completely silent on the matter, but hopefully they will fix the issue in the morning. If anyone is online after the maintenance period please post here if you are willing to test with me on an alt account to see if CCP fixed it or not. |

UPDATE 2:
!!! The issue still remains !!! It appears this morning's maintenance period may have cleared out the phantom squad links for some people that caught the bug yesterday. However, the issue is not resolved; You can catch the bug again! We intentionally and successfully recreated the bug this morning and then each fixed ourselves. We are now able to play again. Follow the steps above to prevent yourself from catching the bug in the first place.
If you've got the bug still, sorry, the only current fix is the one we've mentioned. Just keep trying throughout the day and hoping your original leader creates and leaves a squad at some point. Also, restart the game client once in awhile before testing it. The restart of the game is necessary to clear out the bug after the squad leader leaves a squad. |

Enkidu Camuel wrote:What about normal players? I wasn't squad leader and I had to exit the game cuz I was bugged (sudden invalid fittings on all my suits at the very start of match) now that I'm back on, I can play normally but I can't squad with my friends or get invites and I'm dead sure that I'm wasn't the leader... I just left the squad in the middle of the battle, what can I do in this case?
If you can get into a battle, the standard fix [Solution 1 in a previous post] should take care of you. Sometimes you have to do the process twice. Even i have had to do it twice myself to free up my squad in certain cases.
Your squad leader must have disbanded the squad without you knowing. You are lucky. If he hadn't , you'd be one of the people unable to play at all.

That info is not accurate. Everyone does not have to restart the game, or play two games, or go to the market and buy anything. The whole key is the squad leader leaving squad to free up the squad members and the members leaving a squad to be able to create squads. Nothing more. Read post 10 of this thread. it covers everything.
Edit: To clarify, A restart may be necessary if squad member restarts system before leaving squad. That is when they need the squad leader to perform the fix and then the member restarts game. |

Bump... I saw a "we're aware of it and working on it" from CCP on another thread. But we'd like a little more of an update. This is a serious problem that needs immediate attention. |
