I saw in the thread listing stuff coming in the next update "drones and drone installations" or something like that. What does that mean? The rogue drone horde mode? Predator/reaper esq attack drones? What? |

Drones will be in game at launch so we should start seeing something about that within the next few updates. |

They'd talked about a PvE component of the game that involved fighting drones. Not sure if the stuff people saw was somehow related to that, but I'm hoping it is, as I'd really rather automated stuff not be in the competitive portion of the game. |

Probably normal drones in the next update, not rogue drones.
Rogue drones will be a whole other mode, not just "drones" and "drone installations". |

And they won't beta test the cooperative mode at all? Maybe it's player-controlled drones, maybe not. Whatever. |

drone installations i'd hazard are player droppable unmoving turret type installations that spit out drones till they reach a limit to the number the installation can control. Mercs may be able to take control of this installation, picking targets for the drones to chase after.
In EVE drones have a base range (extendable with skills) within which they can operate. I don't think DUST's drones will range over 20km's... probably more like 50-100 metres.
If you kill a drone another will probably spout from the drone installation, damage similar to AR.
sounds sexy, but just my guess. |

drone range in EvE can rival railgun range, with skills/mods. So, I would guess 100m base with skills/modules maxing out at 700-800m. PS home dust lounge gives a drone for finishing a game of slay, if I remember right you get it even if you lose.
In EvE, there are combat, mining, web(slows movement), ewar, and logi drones. Rogue drones are more advanced, ancient, self aware A.I. that look almost organic. Matrix hunter killer drones look close, attack on Zion scene is what I'm predicting horde survival will resemble.
In EvE, people used to "mine with guns" by killing drones and salvaging them into ore. This could be a good way to collect resources in a shooter rather then a shovel.
We may not get them next build, I figure damage will be lower then ar too. Control will probably be one per skill lv, one guy with 5 assault rifles would be a bit much. |

I hope drones will be eve-like. A swarm attacking everyone that shoot you. |

drone installations wont last long without some decent logi love imho.
forge gun says, "no." Tank says, "no" etc.
like everything else, will take a good commander to deploy one of these effectively.
Might be nice if get the EvE drone controls, could set them up to defend 'x' or go psycho :) |

What about random rogue drone attacks during corporate warfare? Not necessarily attacking winners or losers, just collect salvage like they do, even if that means ganging up on your black ops tank killing you and anyone else who's in there or what have you. This is what I thought about the first time I read about them. |
