Thanks for the link, but it's sad that we had to learn through the PlayStation Blog, but we have the etablished forums here. Makes perfect sense to me. Sense the sarcasm CCP?! Anyway I saw no date listed in that entire blog. So when they arrive is a guess. I'm going to assume those features will be there post update when the new build arrives this month. Atleast that is my guess. If they just gave me my crusader dropsuit I'd be a happy camper. I mean it's cool we get those named features. |

"Starting with our next major update, DUST 514 players will be entering a universe populated with established social groups as well as ongoing politics associated with these groups and are welcome to become part of that social dynamic. " quoted from the article.
So I would assume the next update, remember CCP hinted that a lot of new info would roll out this week. |

So, to recap, the following features are just a part of whatGÇÖs in store for this major update to DUST 514: - You can join any Corporation in EVE Online or DUST 514 - There will be a dedicated Corporation chat channel - You can be a CEO or director of any Corporation in EVE Online or DUST 514 - You can create a corporation, design its logo, assign roles, accept and take part in corporation battles (there will be another dev blog about this topic) - You can accept members from both EVE Online and DUST 514 - You can now create social bonds (or vendettas) that last - You will see EVE Online playersGÇÖ character names and portraits and vice versa Strategize and fight together in real-time

to my knowledge EVE and Dust characters will be separate, hence why a few wipes/builds ago, you have to recreate your characters names because there was overlap with EVE characters, now when you create a character, it searches not just the Dust database but the EVE one as well.
Also, I think the creating of social bonds is simply implying more interaction with people outside of shooting one another in a match... |

I hope this doesn't create a tangent but it is basic marketing. I wont go into it. Anyways, thank you for posting this link.
A tangent? You mean immediate physical contact? Ha. Also this is not about marketing. If this is CCP's variation on marketing it's **** poor. Especially given how small the actual community is for the PlayStation Blog, and the even smaller still of those whom are playing, or fans of Dust514, and visit/frequent the blog itself. So yeah. I mean it's great that someone cared enough to spot this on their blog and had access to the forums here, but it only proves that again CCP lacks basic communicative skills. Informing those who are here testing the game should have been a bigger priority then posting a blog that only a small, small minority will ever see. Hm. Yup. Makes sense. Totally.
It's funny to think how much information is gathered from the testers themselves then anyone from CCP actually. It really is a sad state of affairs. I mean we assume they pay people to be and do PR (Public Relations) and speak on behalf for CCP, but it seems the information is rather instead leaked, and put together by people not being paid.. That is sad. I've seen better communication skills from, Hellen Keller. Oh I went there.
Que the excuses though.. I mean defense of CCP is a must, no? People defend the IRC usage, and one liners from essentially a twitter feed, but actual communication? Nope. Sorry I've just had it with the poor and essentially non existant communication from CCP.
Not trying to be the jerk, but given everything a bit of proper communication is necessary. Especially when it concerns a game, and people testing the game. Herp-a-derp! I can only imagine what the world would be like if any given military acted like this, and refused to communicate information to it's soldiers on the battlefield. I bet that would go over so well. Gross example? Maybe, but it still fits, and works.
I know I have said it before, but I thank the people kind enough and willing enough to constantly report these findings to the "majority" of us that are here. Because, otherwise we'd be three moot and blind mice playing marco polo. So again thanks for the link, and thank you to everyone who is willing to go out find the information. CCP treats it like an easter egg hunt afterall. Some here, a little there and one in left field. |

Though, this isn't new, but ofcourse exciting. The corporations that will succeed in Dust 514, are those that establishes succesful relationships with EVE Online corporations, that maintain presence with forces to back them up on the planets (Dreadnaughts w/ support fleets to utilize their tactical advantage on battlefield). Being part of the same Dust514/EVE Online corp just makes it much more convienint. Will Dust 514 chars differ from Eve Online chars, to see who's who ? |

i dont put very much time at all now but when this game goes live and i keep stats ill be on as much as i can be (also id like an english speaking corp although im sure it doesnt matter since if u r on the forums u speak english) |

if i were a big business id assume they would go by this logic
1. inform the gamers on ur site (its ur site duh) 2. mass media outlets facebook, ign, ads etc. 3. one on one interviews with certain groups of lesser known groups to the public (low priority)
it does seem to go opposite :P and thats ridiculous |

Rorek,
I used to be a lot more upset with ccp's comms efforts than I have been recently. I love the forum, irc, blog and website feedback we are getting over the past couple of weeks
And, from someone who used to be very upset with their lack of forum feedback, I get where you are coming from. But, just to share, I have a new perspective on the communication efforts...
It seems to me that perhaps its not incompetence or lack of desire to communicate with the beta bubbas that inspires CCP to use multiple and varied channels for feedback. But, rather, that they want to train and prepare us to follow and seek such information through those varied channels.
Facebook, twitter, forums, blogs, YouTube, email, etc, ad nauseum... Is it frustrating? Does it take more individual player effort to get all the info into our brains? Would it be easier for you or me if they would just post ( or cross post) everything on this forum? Yes, maybe.
But what if DUST really catches fire and has hundreds of thousands of players? Despite our dedication to this forum info stream not everyone will drink as readily from this pond as from others.
Perhaps CCP wants to ready us for multi-channel info streams. (I've been learning this stuff in the call center I help run).
What REALLY helps the players here and now are folks like Iron Wolf, the OP of this thread and many others who cross-post feedback and alert us to new info when it comes out.
I am willing to give CCP the benefit of the doubt (hasn't always been the case on this matter) and see how the multi-channel info flow helps or hurts in the long run
/rant-off. Thanks

I've been wondering that. It might make sense for us to remain largely faceless mercs, although that could take the form of choosing from a range of merc avatars, or more interestingly, linking your available avatar designs to the suits you have available in-game. Alternatively, they could give Dust players access to the EVE avatar designer (via PC or possibly a PS3 version) and we can make our own human faces a la EVE.
It does seem a bit pointless for players to see our avatars if they are limited to only generic merc no.1-4.

This is a very important beginning to our Eve (not just Dust) career. Eve corps make up of thousands of players who form alliances of corps that make thousands more. Deciding which corp or alliance to join is one of the most important decisions that you continually make in Eve. This was probably posted before but do check out the following links to give you an idea of how big a world you'll be stepping into after the next update:
http://evewho.com/ Want to know which alliance has the most people, or who is in which alliance? Click here to find out.
http://evemaps.dotlan.net/ Created by an Eve player to automate the updating of any territorial (system ownership) changes by Eve alliances, this is essential also for navigating jump drive computations, tracking corp and alliance histories, and just getting a feel of how big Eve is.-á
http://go-dl1.eve-files.com/media/corp/Verite/influence.png And if you want a pictorial view of sovereignty ownership across New Eden (which is automatically updated daily), click on this link. Imagine that we can soon fight planetary wars across all the systems and in this universe, helping to shape the borders of rich and powerful alliances. This is where the persistent nature of our victories and defeats will be felt, and where Dust defers from every other shooter game that has come before, or will be.
