100% believe there is "life" out there in the universe. The odds are strongly in favor of existing life, the challenge is traveling great distances. |

I would argue the odds are strongly against it, so it really matters who is counting the numbers. Dwarf Galaxies have ~10 million to a couple hundred million stars Our Galaxy has ~200 billion stars Our neighboring Galaxy, the Andromeda Galaxy has ~1 trillion stars The biggest Galaxy ever discovered has ~100 trillion stars Estimated 100 billion Galaxies in the observable universe When you put those numbers together, you get an estimate of 10^24 stars in the entire Universe. Or a 1 followed by 24 zeroes. ThatGÇÖs 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 stars

Also if the univerise is infinite then lol of course the answer is yes and yes.
I just hope in my life time they find some proof that life existed on mars all that time ago when they think it might have had liquid H2O.
Go little rover go! bacteria proof is all i need Yep same and @ Maximus Stryker now the odds that a planets in the the poridge zone or wut ever its called ?
I'm not good at math but THIS seems promising

ThatGÇÖs 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 stars From HERE To be fair, there are some who estimate that the probability of life forming randomly is less than 10^-40 or some other absurdly small number. Math cuts both ways.
Agreed.
All I know is that I am made up of super nova star dust and it has happened at least once, so it could happen again.

Universe being infinite is another taken for granted number that just might not be true. We are getting into truly fuzzy concepts now though. For the record I think there is self-aware, replicating "somethings" out there, although I am not sure they are of the same scale or composition of what is commonly assumed for "life". we haven't found the number for the universe yet so we just call it infinite for now. but it is truly a big number.
I was under the impression that the universe is expanding in every direction that it could one day stop expanding and begin to collapse again.

@ Loss Tovas --- we can barley get off of our own planet let alone gather data efficiently about our Galaxy that is only a measly 100,000 light years across. |
