what i say is an opinion so.. take it if you will, but be warned. what works for me might not work for you.
i've played some FPS's
so.. here is my advice..
Lone wolf style
being out on your own for starters is not as all bad as some may say it is. true, you can die a lot. however you can also get most of your skill/ kills that way . (IE: being alone heightens senses such as self awareness. because since you don't have someone there you ALWAYS have to watch your back. and you gota be careful with everything you do, cause, the slightest mistake, means death. or loss of a game for your entire team.
side note: it also can help you in team play if you decide to be a team player. how? well all that skill you gained from being a lone wolf. just add it to what you would use as a team player and you're good to go. you should be able to handle yourself very well if you played as a lone wolf long enough. but it isn't necessary to be a lone wolf. just putting that out there
i do recommend trying to communicate with your team. (providing they will work with you, not everyone is a nice person. after all.) these games are not meant to be played lone wolf style. but sometimes your teammates don't give you a choice. depends on the type of person they are. if they are cooperative or not. etc
Note: lone wolf means you're out on your own. but you do have a team. so even though you are out on your own. aka not having someone follow you where ever you go, does not mean you can't help your team when you can. like if you see some guys taking an objective, go help them out. whether your helping them kill their targets or helping them hack the objective. participate at least a little. the more you participate the better.
Team play: sticking around with team members all the time. ahhh well that says it by itself really. but what it doesn't say is:
it's best to stand a certain distance from your team members enough so you can help them also enough so you don't all die in the process. Don't huddle. one grenade or explosive or (those annoying thukkers) and instant overkill. 4 people just died.
call out: calling out where enemy positions is, always a good thing. keep in mind. team play means playing co-op. so ignore your K/D here. you're there to win. you can focus on it a little. but making it your main goal is a very bad idea for team play. cause you'll end up trying to do nothing but get kills/ steal kills. and a selfish teammate, is not what you wanna be.
when you call out try to give an idea of their location. and what they have. that way all your team members can focus on that target and kill them quickly. IE: see a tank? call it out, and have fun watching 4 swarm missile launchers and 4 forge guns chase it down and rip it apart.
in Short. anything, that helps your team win.
Side note: lone wolf doesn't mean a person that exists solely to steals kills. i've gotten plenty of assists helping my teammates as a lone wolf. you just got to set your priorities straight. being a lone wolf means you can focus on it some more cause your independent. but like i said before, participate some. you'll get more out of it even if you aint playing the full team member role.
the rest i'd say.. comes with experience. but here is a little bit:
firing from the hip in close - mid ranges is a lot better then trying to aim with some weapons. cause your slower when you aim. and that opponent of yours just keeps dancing around your reticule. burst fire your shots as some have said for better accuracy. when aiming or hip firing it's helpful. and make sure your dancing yourself. a sitting target is a easy kill.
snipers are different though, they need to stay back, sniper rifles are not meant to be up close and personal. you need to have a lot of patience with them as well.
any patience weapon needs to stay back or be with a team, their vulnerable anywhere else. IE: a forge gun sits there and charges it up, and the carrier is very slow. it'll suck if you don't have anyone backing you up. or if your out there going commando.
and just saying, you can run in with your group of friends as a sniper and blend in, just make sure you are not too out in the open or you'll be picked off easily. what i mean by that is: you do not have to be all the way in china or the mountains to snipe. if you stick close to your friends, believe me they'll give the enemy team something to worry about more then you. you still have to be careful though as i said. if your too out in the open you'll get shot up by an assault rifle, or sniped yourself
shotguns? just run up to em, aim and blast em. make sure they are all the way in your reticule cause i'm telling you - they wont stand still for you. oh. and pick your battles wisely, don't just run out in the field when their are hundreds of enemies looking at you. you have to find a target solo. or sneak up on the enemy. even with a team, i garuntee you, running out there with any weapon is suicide.
team member or lone wolf - its a very bad idea if you care about survival.
I probably missed a lot, however most of what i said is what I do. or what i have learned from games like halo.
i'm pretty sure i mentioned this before too. but when in a gun fight. dance. or as us halo players call it. strafe. move left and right or move right right, and then left (move unpredictably basically). do not stand still. and try to keep your reticule over the target. jumping can help throw off their balance if you mix it in correctly. try to keep your aim on him while in mid air too. hard but can be done. mostly, this comes with experience.
if you have the motivation to keep going, then you'll get it easy. i have died 100s of times before i even became okaish at any game. mostly FPS that i can think of. other then that.
what you do is soley based on preference. do whatever works best for you. |
