CCP please lock this thread which had run its course and, from the start, has no place in this forum. It's not about Dust nor beta-testing and in light of current events, might put oil over the fire. Let's keep this community united under a common denominator, Dust514. Thanks. |

Or better yet, why don't we allow people to speak freely and openly, as long as simple rules are followed and the conversation is polite.
This part of the forum IS called "general discussion."
Don't FEAR honest and open discussion. That is one of the problems in RL that lead to tragedies such as this latest. |

Looking for Muslim players isn't an issue.
The problem is that the thread has gone towards a religious debate that, as all religious debates, can be neither won over or concluded. Even if the participants are behaving nicely, the thread has gone completely off topic.
For the sake of keeping this forum a place about the Dust514 beta, focused on people helping people and bug balancing (heh) issues at hand, this thread should be locked. |

Oh, please!
Every thread on here goes off-topic sooner or later.
People are so fearful anytime there is an honest and open religious discussion.

Everyone GÇö for sure there are many interesting debates to be had in this life. I just find that this one should be held elsewhere and stirs up unnecessary fervors, especially in light of current events.
It's off-topic, and has lived on borrowed time for way too long now. |

It was me who dug it up today. It is an interesting thread.
Everyone has the right to an opinion in my book. Its only if you express that opinion in a vile or violent manner that it becomes a problem. Any belief, if kept on a personal level and not expressed in the ways I mentioned, causes no harm.
I left the thread because I knew flames would start because the level of intellect of readers is variable, as is their knowledge of the geo-political issues.
While its clear that the violence was an over reaction by some to the film, I would be the first to also say that the film was intentionally provocative to induce such a reaction.
In summary, both sides broke the covenants that I mentioned above, that when observed, avoid these incidents.
Again, those covenants are that whatever belief you hold, you do not express it in a vile or violent way to others. Simple isn't it? We must all show restraint and peacefully coexist. Forgive one and other. |

Just to be clear, the United States government is NOT on the same side as some idiotic and talentless "film maker."
The US did NOT have a role in the production of this so-called "film" and could NOT have prevented its creation.
The innocents killed in Libya did NOT have a role in the making of this so-called "film."
Therefore, I am puzzled at your description of both "sides" being at fault.
Could you clarify? |

Yes I will clarify so there is no room for misinterpretations.
I mean, that if the values I refer to were followed, that firstly, no such film would have been made - the holders of the beliefs, whomever they were, could have just kept it to themselves knowing that making such a film would fan hatred.
Secondly, given that the film was made, if the values I refer to were followed, those who chose to attack would have chosen to forbear and forgive the film makers as opposed to mortally holding accountable those whom they wilfully murdered, those whom as you correctly state, had no control, responsibility or any ability to exert any influence over the making of the film in question.
Tldr - tolerance, keeping opinions personal, forgiveness, forbearance - these values support peace.
Hope that makes it clearer. |

Because in my opinion its insinuating that they don't want to play with non religious people and that we are not good enough/worthy of sharing the same map/squad/team. Its treating the non religious/atheist people as black sheep. Which is WRONG in my book |

If I was to create a thread looking for white gamers only, or straight gamers only then I would get attacked for being racist or homophobic (which I am not), but looking for gamers of a specific religion is ok?????? We all play the same game so why can't we play together? Why single out the religious from the non religious? I'm atheist but you don't see me looking for like minded gamers. |
