When the game is released, won't we also have to buy our clones, unless provided by our corp, in addition to our equipment?
I did a search but didn't find anything. |

Good question. You should have used the topic to give some hint as to what your question was. Someone might know the answer and not click on your vague topic. |

Thinking about it I do think we would have to buy our clones as well. We would have Militia clones to always fall back on, but I'm thinking once augmentations are introduced it will be on a clone to clone basis. |

from eve experiance u upgrade ur clone depending on total sp so lets say i have 9 mill sp and my current clone can hold maximum 8 million if i die before upgrade clone i lose sp not sure on exact ratio's as never lost out of date clone
so lets say in dust ur using malita clones these can support a maximum sp of 2 million sp (theory here) so once over that amount u will need to upgrade to better clones in order to retain more sp
but how will this work every time u die in eve u need to go buy a new clone for when u die again
im wondering because u die like 10-20 times in one match if u just upgrade the type of clones u use instead of just buying X-amount of clones but lets say u didnt notice u were past the maximum sp of the clone how much sp would u loose?

Might be changing though. Clone bpos have been seen on sisi for the few months. |

Wouldn't the BPO clones on SiSi take away the major death mechanic of EVE online? Correct me if I am wrong, but if your podded and killed in EVE online, then your current clones dies. Upon death, if your backup clones don't have enough capacity (similar to an hard drive) then the SP that can't fit into that clone is lost. Isn't this a major part of the cost analysis in PVP in EVE?
So what will be the death mechanic other than a loss of ISK, but this is no concern of a majority of EVE players.
Lore Reason for proposed change: The reason I think CCP has to enact the BPO clones into EVE online, is because of us. The way our clone technology works is that we have an 1:1 (instant) transfer of memories and genetic code into our new clone. Whereas, currently in EVE their cloning tech takes a snapshot of the brain and genetic code, and then downloads it into the new clone. Obviously, the EVE Captains are going to integrate our cloning technology into their cloning process, but the effect this will have on game mechanics from and EVE perspective is intriguing.

I always figured that the cost of the clones themselves would be covered in the contracts by default.
At least in the instant matches.
Of course, compared to the clones seen in EVE, which are customized out the wazoo (a bit in the DUST fiction section mentions a capsuleer that chooses to keep a set of scars), merc clones are pretty basic. They're all identical albino men. Even women get put into the same stock body (at least that's how it is in the fiction section on the beta site, could have changed). In fact, the only difference from one person's clone to another is the voice; that's all you get to keep during the conversion process. |
