Its like it is a circle of damage from wear it hits including the other side of a wall. I could understand more if it hit a wall behind me, but there was none?
Splash damage is the main reason tanks seem so overpowered. They just have to aim in the general direction and poof.
Here is an example the round room on communications map. A tank was firing at the door way up the stairs. I was in the corner inside the room closest to the north wall. The splash damage must have travelled a 90 degree turn and then straight back 180 degrees to blow me up? Sorry not realistic.
We need to tone down splash damage or eliminate it all together and see how many kills a tank would get.
Imagine if you actually had to aim and shoot to kill some one like the apc in mag. You had to line up a decent shot to get a kill with that gun. This is how tanks should be. |

Ive had very few joy rides with my tank(I can't play very often) but those railguns are near impossible to turn to even track infantry, you guys just need to remember strafe hard enough in one direction and a railgun can't hit you. I think its not splash I think its missile launcher that have to much splash. But even that reasonable. The issue is unlimited ammo, and missile launcher should keep their great splash but should have very small ammo capacity. Also why are they called missile launcher when they are firing rockets?
I would definetly say rail guns too. I tried rolling in tanks and that rail gun is a joke just aim in general direction and pop instant Kill. I would understand a missile/rocket having slightly more splash than a rail gun. But there distance should be limited like the forge gun and be something a gunner would have to skill into not the tank driver.
I also agree the mechanics need to better protect a player you cant shoot someone behind 3 walls and a roof. |

Xantanis wrote:All they need to do is work on the blocking mechanics of what stops the "splash" blast. Removing splash damage or reducing it more than it is (for some of the weapons) will make them useless. I understand having to line up a shot on mag, but MAG isn't Dust. I will say I've been hit behind walls by splash, but that can be fixed with the mechanics and collision detection. Not a nerf.
I certainly understand mag is not dust, but the example is relevant. It was very satisfying as a player to shoot someone with it . It took skill and because of that made it much more enjoyable . |

Missle launchers are supposed to have splash though, they just need a damage nerf because their damage is ridiculous too. Railguns should be a high damage precision weapon primarily for anti-armor and maybe sniping infantry when you get really good at it, but it should at least be a challenging task to do.
Yes I can understand missile launchers having splash. But not rail guns they should be hard to hit infantry with unless your a crack shot kind like the forge gun at distance. |

Hardly play anymore really, and if things don't change big time on next build or patch I probably won't be playing at all. Sick of all the freezing, lagging, kick outs etc.etc.etc.
Yes I saw you guys running with tanks the other day. If you can't beat them join them. I just can't enjoy using them I try but they are so boring. I did snag one from someone that game and got it blown up a few minutes later..lol
I am trying my best to get ccp to fix what they can and if splash damage was removed from rail guns or severely limited, and game mechanics were fixed so that splash made some kind sense so you could effectively hide from them then it may go a long way to making this game enjoyable again. Cause we all know unless your in tank your just fodder. |

Well I played around with splash damage both in and out of tanks today. I really think if we could tone this down it might make all the difference.
First I ran proto forge hunting tanks and drop ships. (It was an expensive day)
The range is the most fatal for the forge a drop ship can shoot me from across the map I can't shoot back same with tanks.okay we have discussed that before. We will see what the un nerf brings.
So back to splash on the old skirmish map in the boxes on the north west next to the flat bed truck.
Okay so a tank is rolling down the middle road between the two cover areas. Aims in my general direction and boom dead. I couldn't see him because of the column and I was in between the two containers so not sure where the splash would have come form to one shot me.
The point is if a tanks rail gun acted more like a forge gun as far as you have to hit infantry at distance to kill. it would be kinda like a sniper, and of course there damage to tanks would be great but not to infantry unless you were a great shot.
And missiles just need to be tweaked toned down and have the same limit on in distance as the forge gun if you can shoot me I can shoot you. And of course you can train up the distance.
I don't mind tanks I see there role but they Need more skill to operate to be good a good shot at.
Then it might even be more fun to operate. Cause general aiming and mashing the button to get multiple easy kills really isn't that fun and the the good tank drivers probably wouldn't mind a bit more challenge |

And er Xantanis, meh, sod it, can't be bothered.....
Yes its funny to see the same people who abused the RE s in the lst build are the same ones abusing tanks this build . |

Alright! Just saw the update from wolf man . Looks like rail guns are being tweaked down in splash damage. Let's hope this is the fix we were hoping for! |
