Not seeing a lot of SR threads so I'll opine here. First, to answer your questions. Charge rifle is best for its beastly damage and I do believe that it's a bit more stable when scoping in compared to all others. This one does one shot most targets and is cheap! Get weaponry up to use damage modules with this rifle. Now off topic: SR are pretty bad in this game. The only viable ones force to play at the edge of the map, sitting on some ridge trying to kill ppl half across map. Now I know a lot of ppl will say 'wow but that's so realistic, that's what sniper is supposed to be doing' In reality however, this kills game play making it boring. No gun play is involved with SR as is - you gotta be crouching down for about 1.5 sec to make it stable at aiming and them mostly preying off static targets is just pathetic - no skill is involved in SR (human skill, not SP investment) at all in this game. And if you suggest that with practice you can kill moving targets - hurray; yes this is fairly possible, yet still compares poorly to other FPS where SR Gun play is fun and balanced (e.g. MAG, where you could master SR and take pride in your skills). Lastly, the tactical variants of SR are just dumb. Low ammo, low damage and wobbly as hell when scoped down - the worst of all worlds. In description it credits them with 'good zoom fidelity' or something to that effect, that prompts you to believe that there is less scope sway with them, making them viable at intermediate range (something that SR curretly lack in the game) but this does not translate into actual gameplay (i.e. the description is a lie/misleading). |

To comment on my curretn skills: they are pretty decent: weaponry 5, SR 5, SR specialization 4, Light weap - i am not sure. I do wear an ehanced dmg amplifier in high slot. Now i dont have much experience with militia SR and there are definitely good SRs out there that can one shot the majority of targets - Charge really stands out and shines; but what I want to discuss is specifically tactical SR's. Their name suggests that they are intemediate, as opposed to long, distance weapons and are supposed to be used in the field (for example providing fire cover fire for your squad) as opposed to distance sniping for targets of opportunity as is the case with the higher damage variants of the SR. In reality, however, the low damage, small clip, and horrendous scope sway (while actively moveing, of course - not talking about crouching and staying static ot take a shot) effectively preclude this SR from being used. And as a whole, a sniper is left with only one choice - grab a high damage rifle and run to some rock on the edge of map - forget about tactical sniping and actively participating in taking objectives. That's why I think sniping is limited in Dust and not as much fun as it is in other games (old MAG fan here). |
