So.. I guess what you are saying is -- we can have his stuff? Ha!
Too soon? Maybe. Anyway dispensing with the theatrics I could get behind this. CCP creating a special AUR oriented dropsuit in honor of the man known more commonly by gamers as, Vile Rat. |

Personally I feel they should include five different suits. One for every type. I would love to have one for the upcoming command/crusader dropsuit, and pilot operator dropsuit. |

But I do agree, it would be a fitting tribute.
Well it should be a balanced BPO in the end. Standard or militia tech level. I vote standard tech level entry. I think it should have more slots though, but in different areas for different variants across the board. Take the scout for instance -- I'd remove the [L] module, but add another tier one module or tier two module instead. Leaving the scout with only the [S] sidearm module for combat. Maybe even remove the grenade module for yet another support module, or even another tier one or two support module. Remember he's a diplomat. So it makes sense for removing the [L] light module which supports primary weapons essentially. Besides most diplomats are trained in using basic sidearm techniques. Anyway this is just an example of what I would do. However I'd leave the PG (Power Grid) and CPU (Central Processing Unit) output the same as standard tech. This way it makes you choose wisely on what modules to use, but also keeps "balance" without becoming -- Pay to Win -- in terms of AUR gear. |

Indeed. Makes sense to me. |

Ha-ha. Been a fan since I was kid and my grandfather and I got a copy of Fallout back in 97'-98'. Wasteland is fantastic too though. Also I reccomend watching the 1975 movie -- A Boy and His Dog -- you will not regret it.
When a gamer dies though you can attest that his spirit will live on. We gamers live on extra lives. Ha-ha. Still somewhere in whatever faith your belief's fall into; you can rest assured he will not be forgotten, and will live on. I'd certainly have a drink in his name tonight, but my medication prohibits any consumption of alchohol. Sucks to be sure.. Football season has kicked off, and I'm stuck unable to drink. I'm a dry country. Well I'm sure, Sean, will certainly be having a few drinks wherever he is.

Oh boy.. A statue to pay homage to a guy who helped shape the Eden galaxy for eight years. What interaction. Not trying to be that jerk, but seriously considering how involved the guy was making dropsuits to pay some form of homage to his interactions and helping to shape New Eden is a better way to go. He [Sean Smith] was not just a gamer. He was a hardcore gamer who played EVE. How is making dropsuits to pay homage on our end in anyway insulting? Making a statue in my opinion that has in no way any interaction and just sits there would be insulting. I cannot speak for the guy, or his family, but he was a dedicated gamer. A lot of people knew him in-game, and out. He probably even used his real world skills and experience to his advantage online. This sounds like a guy who wouldn't want to be just another statue taking up space. He'd want to continue shaping New Eden, and playing a role in it's machinations even beyond death. Dropsuits allow that. People in EVE on capsuleer side can do whatever, but what better way to pay homage to such a person then to continue his machinations, and being inspired by his drive to shape a galaxy.
Edit:
For the record the man was a part of GoonSwarm, and had a lot of pull with them too. Just putting it out there. The guy had some sense of humor. |

I think this is a great idea! AUR profits going to help a charity makes it even better!
@Rorek. I don't think either idea is a bad one. CCP could easily and quickly implement a statue in his honor, one that perhaps also honors all the pod pilots and soon to be drop soldiers that have passed on. It would be easier to implement than drop suits. But the drop suits are a really good idea.
Well whatever does come of it CCP should make sure he's not forgotten. New Eden is a breathing galaxy -- Elbeit digitally breathing -- the man did a lot even though he had strong ties to GoonSwarm, the man should be remembered for his large role. I just feel someone like that should be immortalized in a strong way that represents the humor, but also continues in what diplomats do best continuing their machinations and intergal plans and what GoonSwarm does best. Sending waves of people relentlessly to win at all costs. Atleast that is a gross example, but pretty accurate nonetheless from what I have read about the GS. As long as the community is backing it and the proceeds go to a good cause, education (he was a diplomat) or his family, or some other cause we're good I suppose. I was not trying be a jerk, but really the man did a lot and every article has made that clear. |

I was not trying be a jerk, but really the man did a lot and every article has made that clear. At least from the EVE community the point being voiced a lot is that while he did do a lot of good for EVE, others that have passed should be remembered to. I agree with you whole heartedly and don't think you were being a jerk at all. I was just pointing out that while one idea may be better than the others...it does not mean both or all cannot be done for an collaborated better benefit. Honestly I have been trying all day to keep his ties to GSF out of any comments I have made. I hate GSF with a passion...but only the characters and roles played in the game...not the people behind them. A game is after all...a game. Vile Rat may have been GSF for life but he did a lot for EVE.
I think anyone even people just getting to understand EVE do not like GoonSwarm. I know I particularly do not. Ha-ha. Well atleast I was not being a "jerk" then. I understand though the problem with doing something like this -- and then people wanting to remember every person. That happens in real life too, and unfortunetly not everyone can be immortalized by some game item, or statue in real life. However, even if CCP does decide to not do anything the man will not be easily forgotten. That is certain to say the least either way in terms of both real life, and deep in the New Eden galaxy. The man [Sean Smith] has made a name for himself in both respects. That is a truth. Item or no item. |

Cerebral Wolf Jr wrote:I honestly don't understand the GSF hate, Message me in game because i'd love to show you guys the other side of the fence and that GSF is honestly the best alliance out there.
Vile Rat's wife is understandably upset by the situation but she's also very grateful of the support she's getting from our little gaming community in New Eden.
Not really sure.. I'm still tearing into EVE's mythology. Personally from bits I do know? It's the practices more then anything that bother me. Are you necessary? Possibly. Too me it just feels like you are the Wal-Mart of New Eden? Maybe. Still it's the practices and tactics and certain individuals giving the alliance a bad name. In the end the alliance may just as I said be a necessary balance. You have to admit GoonSwarm keeps every on edge and on their toes. For one reason or another. Maybe the alliance is just doing something right? It's all subjective. Like real life.
Or well.. He who wins writes the history books. |

Was there any word on this at all? Personally I saw what they did in EVE and was sort of like that is nice, but could have been a bit cooler? A better tribute? Anyway it was nice. I would like to see something done here in Dust514, but again if not that is fine too. |
