Ok everyone with a brain knows the Type-II assault > Type-I now im not callin for a nerf on the type-II infact the opposite if the Type-II is shield heavy buff the Type-I's armor more to make it competitive with the Type-II
Also with the announcements that the B-Series and vk.1 variations are coming i can only assume its gonna be pretty much Type-II suits with more slots so again buff the armor on the A-Series and vk.0 so its more of a preference to either be shield heavy or armor heavy rather than have the Type-II be flat out better than the Type-I
Assault is the only suit class atm where the type-II is clearly better and not just something for a different playstyle.
Something to think about CCP. Please dont nerf the Type-II instead make the Type-I etc BETTER and not ****. |

If something has higher skill level requirements, it should clearly be better. All the type 2 versions should be made clearly better than the type 2 (or whatever they're called) if not already. |

then how are u gonna balance the skills for advanced and proto with only 5 lvls?
advanced is already at 4 even if u bring it down to 3 for A series and 4 for B series u still only have 1 lvl for vk0 and vk1 the type-II suits are variations from what i know to offer a different style not exactly meant as an upgrade as its in the same STANDARD category
just because u spent SPs on it doesnt mean it should be an upgrade when its the same GRADE of suit Type-I and A-Series and vk.0 need a buff in armor |

I actually talked in a thread of my own about have the Type 1, Type A, and vk.0 be a dropsuit series by themselves. Then you would have the Type-II as the start of a new series focusing on shield tanking as opposed to armor, possibly more expensive as well. Thus, the numbered suits would become the baseline models of a full series unto themselves, and you would be able to pick you preference and then move up the metal levels as you wish. |

Note, we only have Caldari assault suits. Caldari prefer shields over armor so I doubt we'll be getting armor buffs to Caldari suits. |

Grade is an arbitrary label, what matters is skill requirements, and cost. If CCP decided that the Standard Assault Type 2 was to be in its own grade, it would make no difference. If I spend more skills to get something, then it should be better. With Advanced and Prototype there isn't enough skill levels for a different skill requirements within the same grade, so Type1 and Type 2 in Advanced and Prototype should be pretty equal to each other; If something doesn't require more skills to use, then it should not be better. I would support Type 1 and Type 2 being equal if they had equal skill requirements. That being said, it is possible however to have difference in skill requirements between Type 1 and Type 2 within Advanced and Prototype despite only having 5 levels per skill. This is because there is more than one skill needed. Example: Prototype Assault dropsuit Type 1 could require LV5 Caldari Assault dropsuit skill, and LV1 Dropsuit Command skill. Assault dropsuit Type 2 could require LV5 Caldari Assault dropsuit skill, and LV5 Dropsuit Command skill.
*When using the terms "Type 1" and "Type 2", I use them as general terms for all dropsuit classes and all grades of those dropsuits in which there are 2 ISK variants, not just the Standard Assault* |

I can only talk about assault.
Type 2 assault seems to do what it needs to do quite well. Its a balanced suit that enables a player to have a balanced mix of weapons. Without allowing the player to field a set of proto weapons etc. and at the higher cost for that tier.
I like the fact that suits are more about increase in PG and CPU instead of shield and armour. I think this is the right way to go for a FPS mechanic.
As a side digress: I would rather we all start with a basic dropsuit and skill up low and high powered modules from tier 1 to proto etc, which have different attributes, have different costs to field, which allows more customisation of a suit. Personally, I think the different suits were thought about in the way of 'different vehicles'. I think infantry needs to be thought about in a different way.
back to the post.
a few thoughts:
We dont know the full range of suits and their different abilities. This will be interesting as it will allow people to pick suits that fit their play style etc.
We dont know how the economy is going to work. And whether type A and proto become more common as ISK contracts become availabe or corps feed their own.
until we see above we wont really know how things work. |
