For aerial combat were gonna need more than dropships, we need their predators, the gunship and fighter. woudnt take too much effort to put them in at a later time. you cant have only one type of aerial vehicle , just borrow the fighters from EVE and design some Minmitar gunships and well be good to go. just sayin itd be more fun |

I hope they aren't like dropships, forward flying fighters would be better. You could fit them to be anti air, anti ground armor, or ani infantry! |

They'll almost certainly fly the same way as the dropship. Why design a completely different physics system? Plus there's a trailer where we see a gunship for a split second, and it's not acting like a jet. |

I agree. You could have stuff like Fighter/Bombers whose specific goal is to destroy vehicles and clear out hotzones with explosions. The bombers could carry smart bombs allowing them to strike vehicles and fighters could carry air-to-air missiles for taking out other aerial vehicles.
Maybe you could have some sort of aerial vehicle that paints targets for Orbital strikes in more rapid succession then a person on the ground can, giving them to ability to call in more precision strikes across wider areas. It could even have some kind of radar ability that let us see enemies on the battlefield below.
There are plenty of different ideas that could be applied for a more varied set of aerial vehicles. |

This is something I was hoping for from the start. As an old IL-2 jock I am just itching to climb into a cockpit of a fighter. As mentioned before, It's probably on the drawing board. |

Ive actually been thinking that maby we could get a anti ground airship with a pilot and a gunner controlling on large gun on the belly of the ship this make it dificult for aeria combat unles u can keep a higher elevation but even then with the low tracking of large guns it still be difficult. The ship would also support a large tank no good to be a bomber if u cant take a good amount of hits.
The fighter well dont think theres much to be said fast low tank proply lock on missils mabey some guns too but it will suport some what of a vtol concept though it be more towards a fixwinged craft and wont be very steady to hover in due to its disire to stay in motion. I like to think of modern fixed winged vtol aircraft of today to be the bases of this concept |

There are a few pieces of concept art showing a LAV being chased by what looks like a skinny dropship with forward facing weapons. I believe a gunship is in the works. |

I have concerns with this... remember we are talking about the PS3 system.. for fighters to be better than just a flying heli a VTOL ( vertical take off and landing craft with hover..) we will require large maps.. Look at battlefield 3 size maps and see what I mean with jets.. they are large maps and you still feel like your in a constant turn to stay in the map area. As well the more veh's you bring in game, the less someone will want to be the boots on the ground.. Oh great I have my fighter and I'm flying around blowing up stuff.. yea I'm great, and you only have 24 players on your side and half to 3/4 of your players are using veh.. not to many people playing ground pounders and you can't capture objective if your flying around.. so what happens you team loses the game... |

the 09 vids had gameplay of the fighters and they did not operate like the dropship at all i for one cant wait to see them get put in along with MTACs but player count would need to rise to at least 24-32 and maps would need to be opened up, right now we arent even playing on full sized maps yet |

Gunship =\= Fighter
I would expect a gunship to be a two seater, pilot & gunner, that flies like a dropship but more nimble. Then a fighter would be a single seater fixed wing aircraft the flies like an airplane. |

If u havent notice i suggest while in anygame u bring up the map zoom out and look around ull be able to find any map
Weve been playing on one planet ths entire time the maps just been cut off from eachother i think that at one point the entire planet or dam close to it will become a single map encompasing the enire area |
