#1: In my opinion, A - Run & Gun: Stays close to his squad, attacks long distance threats (snipers, turret gunners, etc.) or high priority targets.
B - Recon: Travels ahead of the team to provide information on enemy activity and, of course, provide cover fire during the attack.
C - Watchman: Defends a particular area/objective, and keeps the rest of the team informed about what's happening in said area.
#2: For A and B speed is a must, so any mobility modules would be a good idea. Also, carry a rifle with a high RoF.
For B and C cloaking modules (SOONGäó).
For C I suggest pumping up your defense, since you can't watch an area if you're dead. For rifles, I prefer power on this fit. You may be the only thing keeping an enemy from hacking an objective. If you have some room a damage modifier or two wouldn't hurt.
General advice: Don't become so focused on one target that you ignore the rest of your the team. If the enemy is running away, you've done your job. Remember, you're there to win the game, not kill entire enemy team by yourself.
Adaptability is a must. So be ready to fill many roles, even non-sniper ones. You can build a militia fit for just about anything, and switch into the needed fit at a supply depot or when respawning.
Many skills have bonus passive affects, like increased shields, armor regeneration, etc., so don't forget to skill these up along with your guns and dropsuits. |

If you're going to be by yourself a lot, I'd say probably a drop uplink or a nanohive, depends on what you plan on doing. If you're going to stick with the team, I'd talk with your teammates and see what is needed most. Edit:

Just place your reticle on the target, and they'll show up on the overhead map. But, as of now, only the squad leader can 'paint' the target for attack. But the order disappears if the target goes out of sight. So when a hard to destroy target (let's say a tank) runs to make repairs, you might need to keep an eye on it so the order stays in place. |
