Would be nice if there was a sensor thing that went off every time a sniper had you in their sights and was about to shoot you or even a sensor warning when your about to get shot so you dont have to always be scanning for a hiding sniper :I |

nah it would also warn said sniper that you re trying to counter snipe them. Since they re not in the "heat of combat" they d probably be able to notice it perfectly. |

That is an awesome idea, except I would add a module you could put on your dropsuit that would automatically lock on to the sniper and fire back while simultaneously calling it out to your team and calling an Orbital strike on said sniper. |

Sniper rifles don't use an electronic locking system so it wouldn't be feasible to implement without a psychic dropsuit class. Swarm missiles homing on your dropship or tank would, and it would be practical for that (and in use today).
For avoiding snipers, the same rule applies as it has for a couple hundred years or more... always assume someone has a bead on you. Stay moving and listen for the whiz of a miss.

Assume you are always being targeted by a sniper. There really isn't anything you can do. Platitudes like "keep moving and stay in cover" aren't worth the time it takes to write it out. Just deal with being suddenly killed from out of nowhere, whether you were moving or in cover or not, and hope one day sniping gets brought more in line with other methods of fighting. Until then, put it in the same pile as bad hit detection and overpowered tanks. |

I too yearn for the day that sniping is brought in line with the rest of the fighting. The lack of SP awarded for the same amount of kills + hacks + spawns + resupplies is deplorable - you get more SP for going 5/10 as cannon fodder than you get for going 10/0 as a sniper(maybe this is where your balance is currently found). |

Why? It's too damn slow. But anyway, I have a hard time SNIPING. I like how most of the physics act and react like today's bullets, but for me to constantly track down a target while charging the rifle to max charge and try to attack a target on the move, it's difficult. So if you're a soldier out on the field, or a Heavy positioned on a rock, Keep your movement to an overall maximum. I find that shooting moving targets is more difficult than shooting idiots that are just standing there, don't you think?
Hint: Keep moving. I'm a sniper. And I say, for your own health, keep moving. Or expect a quick death... |

What I'm saying is sniper needs to be nerfed. The SP rewards should be skewed far against snipers, because we're sitting around, safest people on the battlefield (aside from the guys who use railguns at spawn), picking people off from across the map. On what planet should that kind of gameplay be rewarded more than the guys fighting and dying while tanks, infantry, dropships, snipers, and LAVs rip them to shreds?
DarkShadowFox wrote:and the ISK sniper guns being highly innacurate and slower compared to the pay for buy ones o3o
They aren't inaccurate. Anytime you shoot someone and you know it was a hitting shot, it's hit detection messing with you. The ISK-bought sniper rifles are as accurate as anything. |

No sniper would ever get a kill again. Having no idea where you just got one-shotted from or having any warning that its about to happen is essential to the effectiveness of snipers. |

But maybe the effectiveness of snipers is too high right now and could use toning down. Not that I like the idea, as it'd be constantly going off for anyone playing infantry and would serve no purpose other than to annoy the player, but I empathize with the feeling behind the OP. |

This is me playing as a combat marksman and not a sniper(hence the hacks and resupplies). I start off as a logi to drop an uplink then hit a supply depot to switch to my sniper fitting and run around just out of range of enemy assault rifles taking opportune shots and removing enemy snipers(tactical sniper rifles are great for this). Why am I being penalized by about 50% for being 50 yards farther out than the rest of the team? |

Snipers aren't OP, and since getting my skills up I haven't been OHKO'd by a sniper in a long time. This results in nearly every sniper who fires on me having their location pin pointed by my squad and once we know where you're at you're probably gonna die.
So no this is awful, snipers deserve the first shot. After that shot is taken the technology in our dropsuits should give us their location, not before. |

MAYBE a flashing when a bullet flies past you.
Detecting a sniper aiming at you would require that your suit would A: be able to detect the sniper (in which case he'll show up on your overview) and B: use active tracking, for your suit to be able to detect the ping. |

This made me think, a device call a boomrang detect snipers after the shot in RL. Well what if there was a module that increased the tacnet sig of a sniper for 3 or 4 seconds after they fired. That would be cool and fair especially once dampeners and such are brought in.
Just to piont this out swarms use passive targeting so its nearly impossible to detect the lock |

A foolish suggestion. It would defeat the entire premise of the sniper in being a skirmisher. Being awares of a sniper is not an impossible task, it be a matter of paying attention to your surroundings, and pray that your searching are not bested by the snipers hiding skills. |

I hate getting hit by a sniper from halfway across the map, but they're snipers. To telegraph their moves is to make them useless. I would suggest making better use of cover or running like kittens if they don't take you down with the first hit.
