Is it just me or do most gunners suck? Nearly all the gunners I get in my LAV just sit there and face one direction while we are being shot at. I really hope the make vehicles that have automatic turrets |

I dunno, I try to kill stuff when I'm gunning but with rocket rounds I never know where they're gonna go. So far it's the only thing I've found that's completely broken. When the vehicle is moving my rockets go all over the place, vanish into the ground 6 inches from a player doing no damage, end up 10 feet from where I'm aiming...stuff like that. |

I saw a rocket that hit right next to me once just sticking out of the ground. It was pretty funny. |

The more you move with your drop-ship the harder it's to fire with your turrets. The Drop-ship can move pretty fast in all directions (x,y,z). Then there's the messed up hit detection that pretty much puts a hefty delay between button press and when the weapon actually fires forcing the players to predict where they should aim based on your movement (which can be pretty random).
Not saying you are a bad, pilot just saying it's not always the gunners who are to blame.

Yea I know what you mean that happens to me as well when I am a gunner but there are some gunners that actually do nothing at all |

Auto turrets maybe but only if I could turn them off for those moment when you really don't need the attention |

its just the cheap missile launchers thats why they shoot everywhere. once you get in a vehicle thats been pimped you'll see the difference. and yep explosions are a bit glitchy, but even if it doesn't explode it will usually still do damage |

I drive a Saga.
I have XT frag missile launchers on it (for massive splash damage knowing how unreliable the aiming is).
People hop in, switch to the turret, and then bail to shoot guys on foot. |

I drive a saga as well but since I only recently started driving LAV's I haven't got any of the good missile launchers yet. I think most people are used to the free LAV that is really weak so they bail as soon as anything happens |

Whilst I agree that turrets are broken at the minute I think the problem is that people think the missile will just hit where you shoot a la CoD. This is not the case at all.
In every vehicle the gunner has to allow for the movement speed and direction of the vehicle. If the vehicle is moving fast towards your target, aim closer to yourself instead of directly at it. That way the momentum of the missile is boosted by the speed and direction the vehicle is travelling.
It's not the most ideal system sure, but that's the way it's working. Also if you think hitting things from an LAV is bad, try dropship on dropship warfare with missile turrets. You nearly need to be psychic to hit them lol.
It has nothing to do with which level turrets you have, that's just not true at all. The only benefit here is that the splash damage is perhaps higher allowing things to die quicker. |

Maybe if you didn't drive like a kitten we could hit something. Seriously we can't aim while you're flicking around the place, the LAV turns faster than the turret and driving over those mountains makes it impossible to aim at anything. Calm down with your steering, stick to roads and you'll get someone to shoot for you. |

Actually when I find enemies I sit still for the gunner to shoot at them because I know their assault rifles will not really damage me. I only move to give the gunner a better angle to shoot from or to dodge missiles/run away from AV builds. My first post was not about gunners not being able to hit things because I know that it's hard to aim. I'm talking about gunners that actually don't shoot or face the wrong direction all the time. I've e en had gunners shooting at the MCC before |

If LAVs didnt have Gas on. gas off control maybe we could slow down to a crawl so the gunner wont be sniped when we stand still.. |

That's something I don't get. How can people shoot and kill us while the shield is still functioning on the LAV? I have been shot out of the drivers seat and several gunners have died from stray bullets. |

The missile launchers still get messed up and shoot outside of the crosshairs when the vehicle moves. It seems especially bad on tanks, I think because even the driver moving the turret throws off the small launchers.
Small launchers also shoot the missile at a lower angle than the crosshairs indicate, so you always need to shoot slightly above where you want it to hit. |

If there isn't a line of communication between gunner and driver/pilot, I wouldn't expect much out of either. |
