Twice today I've had to manually reset my PS3 because Dust 514 ended up freezing everything; i.e., I had to reach behind the machine and actually press the on/off switch. Thus, twice today I've also had to have the PS3 check if any files were damaged since it wasn't shut off properly.
So are all these resets actually damaging my PS3 in some way? I know that this is a beta and the beta sign up basically says we'll let CCP off the hook for anything bad that happens to our consoles from installing the beta, up to having it render our PS3s useless. Which would leave us players SOL, as it were.
Of course, no one is forcing us to participate, so would it be a good idea to just stop with the beta until something more stable comes out, maybe even waiting until the full release? |

Whenever your PS3 freezes it says it will "check" to see if your files are corrupted most of the time they are not and its just a waste of time. Also PS3s will freeze sometimes on other games too so its not just DUST 514 that freezes
So no its not breaking your PS3 |

All you need to do is turn off your PS3 when it freezes or you unplugged while playing and then it does a file restore (or not because most of the time the checks the PS3 makes say its ok) |

My game freezes sometimes when loading a match. I eventually try to quit the game using the PS button, but when i hit quit my screen just goes black and the ps3 beeps and nothing happens. I cant even hold my finger down on the power, i have to flip the switch. I agree with OP that this could be potentially damaging to your system. |

Any time you turn a computer off when it is writing data there is a chance that you mess up that part of the hard drive permanently. When it scans the sector, it's checking for damage and adding that sector to the list of "do not use anymore." So, yes, this is a serious issue that can harm your PS3, provided the hard drive is being used. |
