Is there ANY possible way ccp could make it so only people from my squad can drive another squad mates vehicle so other players on you're team can't just steal your vehicles?? It costs people money to get them and it's rather unfair for some moron to just run up and steal what he didn't earn. |

I would introduce these features: 1. Seperate the driver from the main turret. 2. Create a sensor locking system. If the driver leaves the tank he can run around in a certain area around the tank and no other can drive the tank then. 3. Make the main gunner the tank commander so he can give orders where the driver should drive or the gunners attack. He should also be able to drive the tank if there is nobody on the drivers seat, the driver runs out of the said area or is killed.

I say don't do this. What if you get killed while waiting for the drop. The only person there to save your ride is a team mate. Instead a red dot kills him to and jacks your ride. This will not be an issue once the game releases. Be patient guys, make sure you call it in around a safe location. Don't get out of the driver seat if you don't wanna lose it. |

You have a valid point Ted, however in the event you die a teammate could take said ride but I'm sick of people stealing what I spent over a million isk to earn only to have some idiot take what they didn't earn so something needs to be done, otherwise I might as well have a large neon sign on MY stuff that says "FREE" on it. Personally, id rather an enemy take it via killing me.... Atleast he earned it then rather than just taking it..... |

You get a few seconds before anybody else is allowed in the tank. Get in the tank when you call it in, or don't call it in. |

Just have it locked to the person who spawned it with the option for others to hack it (like the enemy can do now). If a buddy wants to take it he can after hacking which would give the original spawner the time to jump in and drive off if he did not want anyone else drivng. If original spawner jumps in then is could unlock so that all squad mates or team mates can jump is as gunner or shot gun seat. |

This... Yes This. Great idea, been meaning to post this for a while now.
Don't get out of your seat? Do you guys play this game? I'm constantly in and out of my LAV between running people over or bailing to avoid certain missile death and getting out to take objectives. Countless times I get out to hack a point and turn around to find my ride gone and the enemy at my heels.
The idiot who stole my pimped out ride then drives off, doesn't realize the modifications on it and gets himself killed in my million isk machine.
Fix. Please. |

Yeah Squad only lock would be good, many of the vehicles cost a fair bit.

I seem to remember CCP saying that in pub matches people probably won't whip out the "big guns" because of the haphazard and random nature of a pub match and the player would be at more of a risk of loosing their pricy gear. I guess CCP was wrong a bit, people will still pull out the expensive stuff and lose it but feel better because they can rant about their poor choice in a relatively non important match on the forums. I would think that 1.000.000,00 isk tanks should be left in corp matches where they will have to worry about other 1.000.000,00 isk tanks, not some random pubbie stealing your kitten hot tank in a match where a 1.000.000,00 isk tank is up against some guy in a scout suit starring at the sky trying to figure out which way to run. |

Lmao! Good point man, I don't dare waste today kinda money in a random. I suppose it may seem trivial to a player with a billion + isk to throw at a tank for me to be worried about my million dollar investment but my point is based on if I drive my vehicle and get blown up that's on me but when I have a defense order on it and some jerk comes and just jumps in & takes off on what's not his that's kinda messed up. Mind you this happens on the Jeeps, tanks aren't an issue in getting stolen for me it's the other vehicles that irritate me wh.en people steal them. |

Finding a friendly vehicle on the battlefield just lying around would be less of a blessing if I couldn't drive it. Besides, I like calling in a jeep so I can jump in the gunner seat and let someone else drive once in a while.
What WOULD be nice is if you got contribution points for kills made by someone who took off with your vehicle and killed some baddies.
Otherwise, no. Nope, nope, nope. Teamwork and sharing go hand in hand.

Good thread. I just had a very nice logistics dropship stolen by a teammate, who then went on to destroy it. The good points brought up have me supporting the idea that even a teammate need to be able to hack the ride in order to take command, and then it becomes theirs. Maybe later during the implementation of the game, a corpmate or decent teammate can return it through trade or contracts if the vehicle survives.
Its unlikely that anyone cares about the free jeeps, but I can imagine being furious losing 2m or more from a tricked out tank that gets jacked by a blue and nothing can be done about it. |

New Eden is a harsh world with little pity or remorse. If you are going into battle do so with those you can trust. In New Eden that is EVE, you have the ability to take back what is yours through negotiation or force. If we had the ability to shoot blues in Dust, your point would be well taken.
The lesson learned is definitely not drop an expensive ship around other players as the game is now. The rub is that at least in a dropship, timing is important when a map spawns and your pilot is trying to get troops to objectives quickly (while most of them have just spawned in to the map in one spot). If I have to worry about my dropship getting scooped by a blue, then I too can say New Eden is harsh and you guys can walk. |

You can shoot blues in dust, under the current beta, it's happened in more than one match I've been in.
Secondarily right now we're in beta random matches. Leaving the beta part of that aside for the moment how often do you bring expensive faction ships into pub fleets within EVE? Same applies in Dust. Getting back to the beta aspect of things, once we're out of beta there will be ways to get your gear back (assuming it wasn't blown to slag), there will be in fact essentially all the same methods which exist in EVE. In a random pub match one Dropship or HAV can dominate the whole battle (not always will but certainly can) so while your point about it being a risk and a hindrance to deploy such in those matches is well taken it's also your risk to take. The choice is Risk vs Reward, decide if it's worth it to you and choose accordingly.
Having comrades you can trust is more valuable than ISK in New Eden (in no small part because of how much ISK it can earn you and save you along the way).
My 0.02 ISK Cross
ps ~ the current method helps to provide incentive teamwork and real squad interactions, if you have two gunners you always run with who won't steal your ride and who are willing to share the cost of buying a new one so all of you can benefit that's vastly more effective than spawning randoms, it's also a major factor in keeping Dust alive and growing. |

im not 100% sure on this. but i called in a tank and was killed before i got in, a teammate drove off in it and im certain the tank survied the match. when i got back in my MQ i had a tank in stock. The uncertainty comes from me not knowing if i had a 2nd tank waiting. its not something i do usually. keeping hacked lavs and havs would be sweet. maybe stripping all the parts and mods for salvage would be a better thing. otherwise this would turn into Grand theft auto. |

Run out, steal vehicles, drive them off to somewhere "safe" - rince, repeat and end the game with 7 new jeeps and a couple of small tanks |
