There will be public arena matches with betting and etc. As per fanfest 2012 vids. If groups of players want to try to set up E-sports type competition matches on any of the however many thousand maps we'll get right at the word go then more power to them. There should be room for all of us.
I've read theat EVE has PvP competitions where corporations have space battles on an annual basis.
But outside the arena match modes there is going to be a lot going on (How will faction warfare work in DUST? for instance. What happens when someone decides to crash your match in null sec? Will you cancel a match if spies steal all your stuff?) that will make it difficult to run a series of ad hoc competitions. |

I'd rather put up with PlayStation coupon users (PS+) or the twerps from IGN anyday. Over those people. I'm more then reasonable, but seriously I've been dealing with these people since SOCOMbattles emerged and even then it was nothing, but throbbing headaches, and a waste of time. Ever play Counter Strike 1.6? How about DOTA? Same type of people with nearly identical egos, and self proclaimed heavenly status of being the "best". Ugh.. My head hurts when I think of putting up with that all again. I even had to endure it playing Halo2 to Warhawk, and a number of other games. If there is one huge way to turn away players it's the player base, and "community". Especially when it then becomes a majority of e-thugin', e-peen strokers.
This has nothing to do with "casual" or "hardcore".
Edit:
Seriously anytime I hear that lame excuse for a crutch about calling players "bad" just enforces and proves me correct about those sort of people. |

Deal with it, this is how the would is, there are ALWAYS going to be assholes.
I don't care what experience you have with the competitive community, so stop bringing it up. if you want to get away from it, then STOP PLAYING VIDEO GAMES.
MLG will bring in thousands of other players that are indirectly involved with MLG, which means a larger community, which means a high potential for people to buy AUR.
BTw, everyone that I have met that hates MLG really does suck at the game they are complaining about MGL being involved with.

Actually the majority of players in a game when it does not "involve" such things will and is populated by more then reasonable civil people. It really is not about either group because, it actually comes down to those who are "mature" or "immature". The latter being those self righteous wannabe "elitist" and "pros". If you cannot grasp this that is on you, and is your problem. As for the whole how "good" I am that is all you keep saying. Like a CRUTCH. Get some new material. For the record I'm above average in any and every game I play no matter the genre. Want my kill to death ratio? It's over two for your information. Happy? The only kid I see here are those stroking MLG and acting like they are the best thing to ever happen to video games. Got news for you I was playing video games long before they came about. Putting up with your average null is not a problem. I just get a laugh out of how self important and awsome they think they are.
Again you can invite thos nulls all you want. In the end it will only ruin the game, and make for more laughs then the stupidity of Olivia Munn. Anyone who remembers the WoW (World of Warcraft) or Call of Duty forums is going to laugh at how bad these forums become with those egocentric degenerates here. |

Personally I don't care if the MLG players come in or not. And as far as the community and whining and **** on the forums go, I won't be on the forums after the game releases most likely. Im on the forums during beta because Im a test and I try to keep up to date on what's going on. Once the game releases I have no reason or desire to talk on a forum. That's me. So the whining and bitching won't and doesn't bother me.
Second, if the MLG players want to come in and play Arena style dust that's fine with me. I don't and won't have to interact with them, everyone will have that choice. Also, if they start putting stipulations on their matches to make it "MLG" you don't have to play in those matches. Im not gonna let anybody determine what weapons, loadouts, fittings, builds, or roles Im gonna play on MY CHARACTER. So, if they think they are better than you, tell them to play you, with everything allowed. Whoever said you had to agree to their rules. And then again why does it matter if a 12 yr old boy thinks he's better than you anyway? Last I checked gaming was about having fun. Or maybe that's because Im older and that's why I played games as a kid.
Third, most of the older gamers in a community have jobs, kids, wives, etc. I don't think most of them are concerned with who is better than who, nor do they have the time to devote to becoming a "PRO" gamer. I don't, and I don't care to become one, nor do I compare myself to those people. I don't consider myself a casual or hardcore player. I'll probably play dust a little everyday, I got way better **** to do than play it all the time. But it will be the only FPS I play in the forseeable future. And having said that it brings me back to I don't have the time to compete with MLG players, nor will I try, and I won't play arena matches that have custom rules.
So my point is if you don't like MLG players, don't play with them. If you don't like them on the forums, don't read the forums, or skip their posts. Kinda like I do the leaderboards. I don't count your KDR if you're under 100 kills. So when I look for the top say 50 players, I end up being somewhere in the 200-300 range before I get the first 50. Skip their posts and their games. And don't clog up the forums about them. That only makes it worse |

CCP runs the Alliance Tournament PVP tourny every year - it has its fair share of the usual EVE skullduggery, spying, treachery, and occasionally throwing a match or two to make tons of ISK.
MLG guys should be fun to watch, or fun to scam for everything they have and make them cry - whatever floats your boat. |

I forsee MLG throwing a hissy fit when they realized that every one of their players had been repeatedly scammed by seasoned Eve professionals hehehehehe. |
