Was just wondering From an Eve player point of view where they see dust in the years to come compared to eve.
Not sure how to word this, I'm thinking in the way Eve has come on since launch, new features, New Eden development. What kind of features would you think you like to see in dust.
As in over time to evolve Dust from just a first person shooter to some thing more.
Yes I know we're still in beta, but it can't hurt to let the mind wonder on the future how ever distant. |

I'm pretty sure we'll have the RTS and PI industrial elements by then,
probably a couple of PvE expansions with something beyond rogue drones to fight
maybe access to at least 1 more planet type...
All I can think of at the moment,

At fanfest they spoke of launching barren planets shortly after the live release of the game, and adding lava, ice, and gas planets in 2013. There was also talk of an arena mode which would be 5v5 ctf or 1v1 death match. The arena would be pure e-sports and allow eve and dust players to watch the matches from their quarters and bet on the outcome. They also mentioned adding Mtacts as a vehicle type. |

Am kinda backed here so please forgive me is this is completely of the wall
I was kinda hoping for colonized planets. Say instead of just industrial structures there would also be like hab complexes with real people milling about on the ground going about playing around in sandbox mode kinda thing, Then bam!! Eve fleet in orbit, everyone on the ground scrambling to the hell of planet before the invasion begins.
I know this will never happen, But I live in hope |

I am looking forward to the command aspect of dust 514. I would like to see an expansion of the e-sport concept with vehicle type races, kinda like wipeout but in eve. The integration of eve/dust walking in stations would be nice and hopefully allow for more social games, and interaction. |

In EVE it is possible to find the location of almost anyone currently in the game which sometimes leads to someone going on the hunt for one particular person for what ever reason. I'm sure that CCP has thought this all the way through but maybe not. Since we want a real sandbox mmofps then you also want the ability to go to any planet (terrestrial only at the moment), deploy, and make it your own.
You can glass a planet from space, but you can't take control without boots on the ground. Control of the planet means control of the isk that it produces. So tell me, who really has the power, the Titan piolet who can destroy everything including the isk making instillation, or the merc with boots on the ground and the ability to take the instillation and make the isk his own?
FPS players tend to think, well the match is over lets do another one. My last player corp in EVE was AHARM and we had a little disagreement with Rooks and Kings that lasted over a year costing both sides numerous towers, capital ships and billions and billions of isk. The Mercs in DUST 514 are going to have to start considering the consequences of their actions and the things they post on forums. I mean really, does someone who doesn't know anything about EVE really want to **** off the Goons to the point where they will actively look for you and find ways to sabotage any contract you take.
Remember the video where air support was canceled and an orbital strike was called instead? Can you "really" trust the person offering you a contract, might be a Goon proxy. |

Dust 514 will NOT exist in 5 years unless they go on PC, as long as it stays a PlayStation exclusive, forget it, it WILL fail. The console audience is just way too casual, they can't appreciate a hardcore team based game, only a very few can, but unfortunately not enough to support a game... |

I can't agree with that sorry man, not to say it wont go to pc but I know plenty of console players who are just as hardcore.
There are plenty of causal players two and that is what make consoles so attractive, but there Are plenty of hardcore gamer's on console.

I want to see Dust be the wildly successful multi-million user gateway game that funnels players into Eve, providing CCP with the money to keep both projects, and new projects, properly funded. I'd have Dust define itself as something truly unique, but most importantly it needs to be accessible. Move away from the CoD/MAG/BF archetypes, draw in a broader player base than just the hardcore FPS crowd, provide lasting appeal to casual and hardcore players, keep the metagame healthy but don't rely on it to generate interesting player events. This game feels next to infinitely expandable, and CCP seems to acknowledge that as well.
Sounds too good to be true imo, but I feel Dust has an actual chance to accomplish all of that. |

u have a point here. But i dont think it will hit pc before the ps4 comes out.
Since ps4 will compete against a desktop pc when it comes out its much easyer to make it work on both machines without the problems they would have right now because of the limitations of the ps3.
like planetside 2 they said would be a possibility to launch it on ps4 . |

How long as MAG been out? You see my point? Shooters on any system usually only last 1 or 2 years at max. Why? Because they are all re-skinned cookie-cutter games with achievement/leveling systems that, once accomplished, are thrown away for the next one with a fresh start.
Any developer that wants to make a shooter that last longer than the other trend shooters, would need to think about what made games like Battlefront a good shooter that people played for years and years. The answer is: a simple class system, competitive gameplay, and fundamental dynamics.
Until all the developers for shooter type games stop trying to make COD clones with customizable characters/loadouts, we will not have any decent shooters. I mean if your going to clone games, why not ones that people love, not hate?

I don't believe these devs are 'cloning' any FPS I've played... Yeah, it's a shooter but boy is there concept fresh. Sci-fi not military like ALL the other clones. These guys are taking the path less travelled and I hope it makes all the difference. I don't play those 'other' games anymore, they but gather "dust" now. I'll be crushed if this game doesn't make it. |
