Sniping should be more powerful in the game. It's impossible to aim, and then on top of that you have the spread. Maybe make sniping a little more powerful? Outside of sniping, the only valid class that i've seen is Assault. |

it probably says more about me than i'd care to admit...but...on the one character...
I have logistics suit with a sniper rifle that i use to fly drop ships fitted with CRU's.....
An a55ault suit with remote armor reppers
and a scout suit with a breach mass driver
also the same toon with forge guns and HMG
have so far refused to spec into shotguns -_-"
sure I'm not as focused as most, my AR damage sucks, so i use the Tac(if i ever want to AR), but i am multi-capable, and i have lots of F.U.N.
Can't wait for release and permanent SP...

Try training the sniper rifle operation skill and getting a non militia rifle. It's plenty powerful |

Get the charged rifle in the first tier, 2 complex light weapon damage increase mods and you can drop everyone, except a heavy, in one shot. It's the cheapest way to get one of the most powerful rifles in the game.
So, no... snipers are not underpowered. |

Impossible to aim? huh? I'm shooting it just fine at ranges in excess of 700m, on moving targets.
Admittedly though, I've been obsessively sniping for 3 builds now, a lot of that is just practice, practice, practice. (and this IS this old man's first ever FPS since doom in the 90's)
Crouch neighbor, don't expect to get quick shots off while Standing and without Sniper rifle Spec built. |

sniping is easy as hell in the game, you just can't run and gun in dust. crouch and zoom in until you hold steady. |

Sniping is not easy.. I love sniping in all my shooters.. But this one is waaaaay different. Is there an option to zoom in further while looking through scope? If so, how do you do it? If not, why not?! I get a feel similar to that of Killzone1-3 sniping.. If only there were a further zoom.. and the abilities scout claims to have do no exist lol.. You aren't really more agile and quick... There should also be a "focus" button.. like the similar "breathe" function in most FPS while sniping, to steady ones aim. I also don't understand the physics engine.. Long range, I try shooting where someone will be. It doesn't hit... I try shooting where they are.. It doesn't hit.. I try shooting where they aren't and it doesn't ht.. I shoot randomly around the target and I'll get one hit. Fix th hitbox or something.. If you're firing a casing that kills with speed.. You would think that upon firing it would near instantly be at the target destination.. and if it's nearly immediately there then it should hit where you have aimed. You can't just go with horrible bullet speed and accuracy and horrible hitboxes.. It's one or the other DEVS!!! Aside from the frustrations, it's pretty fun. Melee also needs a lot of work.. You can't hit jack. lol |

The majority of my sniping kills are 1 hit kills. I just started last night and am using the default gear still. I'm not quite sure what the complaint is about. I do agree that it is frustrating when you have a irrefutable hit, yet the game doesn't register it. I am assuming that is just the server lagging. 2 body shots are not that difficult on a moving target, unless you are getting frame-rate stuttering all the time, like I do. Making the rifles more powerful to compensate for the above issues is not the solution. They should fix the above issues to resolve the above issues instead. |

Sniping in dust is super easy. Squat, wait for sway to stop, line up the dot with a person at any distance, when dot is orange - fire, instant dead enemy. |

I'm pretty sure the OP doesn't realize that if you crouch, the sniper rifle doesn't sway at all. Thus his "impossible to aim" remark. |

I think that most of the people who are complaining about the sniping are overlooking one simple element that makes Dust... Dust.
You can't just slap a handful of perks or weapon attachments to the guns and have a sniper... You've gotta work your skills up, practice with the weapons, work up some ISK to be able to afford something other than the Militia rifle.... |

What I'm having problems in with sniping is that i will shoot someone, their shield flash, the crosshairs pop up that shows I hit them, but yet their shield doesn't go down and there armor doesnt either. This is HIGHLY frustrating. Please fix this problem. |

It's a hit detection issue, affects all weapons but it's very noticeable with sniper rifles especially. It is amazingly frustrating. They claim to have something resembling a fix for it for next build. We shall see. |

yea, frustrating is a word for it, another word for it is "**** I just put 7 bullets in that guy's chest, and he killed me with an assault rifle. on full auto, from around 200 meters out, screw this I'm going to be the only logistics guy on my whole team" and that sway is just nasty, even crouched, unmoving, and using the tactical rifle it still tends to net 1-2 seconds of "omg i shouldn't have drank the whole bottle of scotch" level of sway. |

I have heavily speced into sniping, and I have no problem taking down bigger targets. I also use about 120k ISK per suit that I go into battle with, so I tend to only use my sniper drop suit, when I really need it, or drop into a weaker suit if I don't want to drop that much ISK in a battle.
If you let the dot go Orange, and aim for the head, its generally a one shot kill. The hard part I think, is figuring out the timing when shooting at a running target. I just wish the hit detection when players run was a bit better, but I do not think Snipers are weak by a long shot. |

The hit detection seems to be a per-target issue. If you switch targets you will be likely to get a kill. Then, return to the previous invincible target after a few seconds (5 - 10) have passed and they will often be vulnerable. This doesn't help if the target is a scout or whatever running right at you, taking lethal shot after shot with zero damage, but it's just something we have to cope with for the time being. |

I can attest to this. The hit detection is a problem with any target, but if they move ever so slightly and/or enough time passes the target will again become vulnerable.
I firmly believe it'll be fixed in the next build. The problem is far too prevalent for CCP to pretend it doesn't exist. The people who say it doesn't exist, don't spend enough time sniping with any long range weapon. Take the time to run 20 matches as a sniper and you'll see the issue arise every 3 or 4 games. |
