As i mentioned in an earlier post I played almost extansively with AV this build. After reading a lot of feedback I decided to try out tanks solely to see the other side. I had some experior with tanks before but only in the last build. I ran with a ~750k Gunnlogi
--:2x Shield Amp 1x Damage control Unit 1x Heavy Shield Booster 1x Heavy Shield extander ':2x Powergrid Expansion Unit
2x Missile Launcher 1x Militia Railgun
I realize this is not the ideal setup but I spent under 1 million SP for this and its pretty much the best I could afford without any more SP. If I were to upgrade anything it would be to get the better shield resistance modules. Then turrets.
I've had good and bad games, so far I've lost all 5 Gunnlogi I had made and I made a profit with only one of them, keeping it alive for 5 games, overall I lost about 2.5 millions. My best score was 23/0 and I was rewarderd with 112k SP and 265k ISK. This is with the 50% xp boost.
It didn't feel like my tank was overly powerful, the 23/0 game happened because I was protecting an objective where the ennemy camp kept spawning and my guys hadn't capped it yet, the opposition was pretty dumb and the most damage I got during that time was from a Locus grenade. I also destroyed a bunch of ennemy instalations.
What I learned from playing with tanks is that they are strong but nowhere close to being invulnerable. A tank without gunners better stay back or be very careful. Its easier to get a lot of SP and ISK with a tank. The Gallente tanks are meh and the Caldari shield tank are pretty decent.
Overall AV is much more profitable as I can make a powerful AV setup with under 1 million SP and deploy a strong AV dropsuit for under 100k or even under 40k if you just upgred the suit and Swarm/Forge. The current problem with AV lies in getting skillpoints. Destroying 5 tanks + some other vehicules in a game will net me around 50k SP witch feels like not much at all in comparison with the effort and skill required to do so. Maybe Destroying a tank with AV should reward more sp than a tank killing a tank, I don't know. I trust CCP to figure all that out. |

It sounds like you need practise using militia tanks. You learn to get out quick when 3-4 militia swarmers / AV nades will kill you. I haven't used higher tier tanks this build, but over confidence is the biggest killer of HAVs IMHO. |

What would you change? I was about 300k sp away from removing a powergrid and putting in the other module that boosts PG Shield and Shield Regen. |

Yeah I took a lost of risks, but that was sort of the purpose when I set out to test this **** out. |

It's not what you are using. It's how you are using it. Previous build my Sagaris took 13% damage from a militia swarm shot. So I usually sat there and took it, eventually shot him. Trouble comes when you do it with 2 swarmers. Your still fine, tanking their damage, then fully Proto heavy shoots you in the bak with a forgegun and throws a few av nades. Dead tank.
Currently one of the strengths of tanks is to get out of trouble much faster than infantry. Edit: This usually means those infantry get left unsupported. |

On a side note I would love to see an external CRU module, meaning the infantry spawns outside your tanks, often tank gunners will stay with you for a whole game making the CRU a waste of space. Having it spawn teammates outside would ensure you a steady supply of anti-AV and cannon fodder. |

Maybe a specialized vehicle could do this, like the black ops HAV. It'd be similar to how a black ops battleship can jump in and bring in a whole covert-ops/recon force with them. |

OP if you have like playing AV you should know that AV with a tank is more powerful than AV without one.
You could just soften them up from afar by using a militia rail-gun tank and possibly lure them somewhere on the open where they are highly vulnerable to swarms. You might manage to get like 1-3 shots (1000 per shot) before they even know where you are. With fast tank and good driving skills (which I unfortunately don't posses :( ) you might even repeat the process from another location.
Hell you could buy 4 of them (for price of one of your Gunnlogi) for just **** and giggles and let your team mates drive them. They are sure to keep the tank busy for a while and maybe even soften the enemy tank up a bit if not destroy it. |

tanks are not invincible they just require a corrdinated team now vs an individual. I ran a supreme tank in the last 2 builds, this build im running things that are even more OP check my KD looks like its padded by tanks. 25% hardeners make it so dropships and cars dont get 1 hit |

This! I am defiantly going to try this next, with good cooperation and communication it should be pretty effective! |
