I guarantee this is the reason, I've seen it happen in other game betas, for instance DCUO. In DCUO the ice power was ridiculously over powered for the first year after release. People complained incessantly on the forums about a class that, if used properly, was immune to damage while still able to dish out as much as anyone else. After a few Q&As it became clear that ALL the devs played that class and loved it. They wouldn't nerf themselves. So its not hard for me to imagine that all the Dust devs are tank wh0ring themselves silly and having a grand time with it. That's my rant for today, I'll get off my soapbox now. |

I know for a fact that isn't true. We occasionally have just casual chats with the devs on IRC and they run around in all sorts of things. Some love militia gear, some are snipers, some love tanks. Get a grip. CCP devs are pretty much the coolest bunch of devs out there. |

The best way to reply to someone who thinks you're serious is to be even more illogical and unbelievable. Eventually the other guy gets it and everyone has a laugh.

I believe the Creative Director on Dust is a big fan of tanks. However, an office full of people throwing stuff at you while shouting "fire in the hole" or such would sort that out :D
They are sorting things. Hot fixes are fun times. We get to see faster balancing than any other build so far. This does mean they're able to tip the scales a lot further, and with more stuff. CCP are balancing the modules and stuff, so expect to see tanks still very tough, but they'll probably play a bit differently. |

Well I am being sarcastic, but I am so irritated that if your team doesn't have 4 tanks deployed you should just quit and find a new game, cause that's all I'm seeing these days. |

I managed to kill a few today with my proto swarm but I get no sp for trying to hunt tanks all match. The reward for killing one should honestly be 100k SP and damage should be worth 10k. This is really driving me crazy. |

I believe it's the mentality that tanks are "big bad superior meat shredders" that gets eveeyone to thinking when they see an enemy tank on the field that they instantly lose. Ive met several determined AV peeps in dust that are very effective at their job. Take Howdidthattaste for instance. He would hqve destroyed my Surya if he wasnt using a forge gun. A swarm would have wrecked me.
Just to let you know, forges are most effective at shields while swarms for armor. |

No, its the mentality of FOUR "big bad superior meat shredders" that gives me that good old auto loss feeling. I've seen that happen more times than I care to mention. Takes tons of skill to one-shot anyone you see, hell you don't even need accuracy, you have splash damage. Teach me o great master. |

A pretty stark difference between Ice power set in DCUO and HAV in dust is that the HAV has no real strategic place in the game in any way. Removing ICE would have left DCUO with only one tank class, while removing the HAV from Dust would leave no real hole to filled. There's no threat on the battlefield that the HAV is an answer to other than skilled infantry or another HAV. There's nothing you "need" an HAV for. |

it's just on ambush maps is really messed up because you're often immediately flanked by 4 tanks from every direction being it is ppl are spawning randomly and immediately able to field a tank and becomes total chaos. on a skirmish map at least you have a general idea where they're gonna spawn at |

Lets be honest..... all this game is is DCUO with different graphics haha
there's a reason why it was re-named 'disconnect online' and we seem to be having all the same difficulties here hmmm
that said, id love to be able to get my Superman bouncy ball to throw across the battlefield and confuse everyone rather than the cobweb filled empty echoed chambers of the hall of doom since pretty much everyone decided to be a hero...... |

Well I do remember on the first morning of this new build I hopped into a bad a.s tank and he was clobbering everyone this was within the first hour after the wipe. So yes the devs must love them and play them. |

If there is 4 tanks on the field and you cant pick them off one by one, you have a very non av team or some sucky tanks. Ive soloed 3 higher meta tanks by only using my surya. |

Edit: My real reason - I love trolling people while in a tank.....
gotta mess with you..
tbh i have no SP in tanks just turrets and i will get into a soma and troll the crap out of people, whats great about the soma is my build only costs me around 350K...
go ahead blow it up i can buy another before i re-deploy if its that important to me.
but whats weird is see people being so butt-hurt about tanks, not spending any sp on AV and expecting to be able to blow ANY* kind of tank up with the militia swarm and no skills
*high level tanks that cost bucks |

The developers are probably doing an experiments on us. That's why they need a beta tester to do their best reporting it on the feedback section. But most of the players are like kids whining that this game sucks, tanks are stupid, etc. They should make a constructive criticize why it's overpowered. Is it the shield or armor? The forge guns are too weak for damage power?
The last build that Dropships were use to teabag players to get easy kills, now they fix it so that it won't be easy to use it, but now it's hard to crush players because of the changes. Second, players were complaining that LAV was used to road rage players and players were defenseless against them, so they update AV grenades to have a homing capabilities. They fixed the remote explosives too.
So, I'm testing out the forge gun and using my skill points to it's full potential and see if the tanks are indeed a problem. |
