I think we need a way to allow squads/solo players to call for a dropship pickup. Something like transportation request. As it is now you can either rely on your squad mates to get in or hope that somebody fancies to fly just so.
This could be similar to a squad order or it could work by having permanent switch-on beacons by every major site (capture point, fitting station, etc.). This way dropships would be acting like quick pick and drop type of transports. Pilot getting SP for it would be awesome. |

Too many roll without a mic and then wonder why it's hard to communicate/coordinate in game.
I have a mic, but in a heat of battle shouting over others in team channel is not the best idea about asking if somebody wants a ride and others shouting that *they* want a ride. Plus how do you locate *where* the requester is? "Pickup request" should at the very least indicate where to go (the same way squad orders do). |

That way squad commanders could hear their platoon commander but talk to their squad and squad members would just talk within their squad. They could add vehicle-channels so vehicle crews could talk to people in their vehicle, but listen to the team commander.
Right now, I don't think there's a way to really coordinate the whole team unless everyone's talking in squad comms, which is not ideal.
Can't agree more. I think instead of Right-Dpad-voice-activation it should map to a quick switch between primary/secondary voice channel. @Shiro Mokuzan Open a separate request, this needs to be voiced. |

Nova Knife wrote:Shameless plug, same thing suggested here, in slightly more detail. https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=32877&find=unread(Expanded. Author @Nova Knife) The idea is simple. Using the same idea as squad rally commands, any player could mark on the map a 'pickup zone' which would be visible to anyone on their team currently driving a vehicle. Marking the player themself is a less ideal call as they could want to mark an area that would be clear, or safer than where they currently are. Passengers inside the vehicle could then have the ability to use their map or weapon wheel to designate a dropoff zone where they would like the driver to take them. Gunners could mark a target zone so that the pilot/driver knows where the gunner wants to be shooting. Pilots/drivers could get the option to notify their passengers to get out at a certain location, maybe notifying them they should be hacking an objective they are parked beside instead of farming kills of people who spawn. (*wink*) While on this subject, the ability for a pilot/driver to forcibly eject their passengers is a must-have. All of these actions could give some measure of war points, and would be particularily nice incentives for dropship pilots.
It shows that we really need this kind of thing. I like the idea about letting passengers to indicate desired drop off location. This could work like this: expand battle map, indicate desired drop-off location. All dropship pilots (maybe there should be a radius for it) see a request for pick-up and, upon getting soldier on board, a beacon for drop location.
I won't comment on the second part of your request as it is out of scope for this one. |

As a DS pilot, I won't come close to the ground once I take off. I use a spawner on my ship so people can spawn, gun or bail, but I'm not coming to pick you up. I like the idea of drop points, that would help. But, many things start taking on their own names like the "table top" or the second tower on the right. I also need people on mics so I can talk to my gunners.
If they implement this then great. But, it's a world of help to get a mic, go to team chat and join in on the communication.
Recapping my previous posts - I do have a mic. I still think that having a request with a indicator where that request originated (or who called for it) and a drop off beacon is a way to go. You do have a valid point about going BooM. Higher level DS is not that volatile. That, and a fain hope that DS will be made a bit tougher, is what I live for (-. The name itself (Drop Ship) makes me think that it is intended for a quick insertion tactics, e.g. you pick up 2-4 marines and drop them on top of enemy head, go back, rinse and repeat. That, and not for flying high and spawning rockets semi randomly. Maybe CCP will add some assault aerial vehicles later on just for that. |
