So, as most of you know, there are a lot of tank threads rolling around, some say they are overpowered (actually, not some, but more like 99% of them) and the others say they are fine (written by the people that roll face with them so they're obviously not biased).
People that recommend nerfs say reduce damage, or reduce armor, or increase AV damage, etc. But I ask this: why focus on armor and damage? I propose this: make tanks slow. I don't mean slowER, I mean SLOW. Heavies have sh*t mobility due to high armor, but tanks (HAVs) move faster than scouts can, and have about 10x the armor of a heavy. I'm thinking 5m/s movement speed in a tank (It is currently 10m/s). If people want to be invincible in their mobile bunkers they can, but they will be restricted to killing immobile or stupid people, or other tanks. Of course, if you disagree with this because you drive tanks, we can always stick with the major armor nerf people are currently asking for... |

Yea i can actually see this being all that is needed in order for tanks to not go as fast as the scouts and stop out running people and swarm launchers right when they are about to die |

+1 for the Logi Bro's post.
Slow them down but also give back some of the punch of teh AV, the AV now mostly tickle the hostile vehicles. |

The fact is that Tanks don't have their place in the game right now. There's nothing that they are there to be counter to and really no reason to have them survive as long as they do at all. We're balancing them based on infantry AV only because they're is literally nothing else to counter them with other than a dropship - hover over a tank for more than 30 seconds and see where that gets you.
Installations have been gimped every build since the beta first dropped and even then they are placed in the worst spots on the battlefield. My assumption is that in the long run tanks would be the counter to those installations in an attack - yet they are barely a threat to a guy with a militia swarm launcher - let alone a tank.
So I propose a hotfix with a buff to installation HP along with more effective placement of installations to counter tank incursions around objectives.
Also, kill the splash damage on large railguns - it's just stupid. |

Well, it seems people just want to test beta in a fun environment. I can understand that. It also seems some of us forget that we don't have all the tools at our disposal. We still have yet to see a Minmatar Autocannon Tank, or a Super armored Amarrian Mobile Laser Platform. Electronic warfare maybe next build. etc... etc...
When all the tools are at our disposal there will be a better way to judge how strong a tank should be. What will gunships bring to the table? Will we have EW vehicles?
The dropsuits we do have, got no passive bonus per lvl of suggested skill. Don't get me wrong. I too would like to see more of a even match, as i put all my vehicle training in dropships not tanks.
What i would really like to see is a more stable game before balancing. |

Balancing needs to be done before during and after adding new stuff into the game though.. |
