Uggh, this is an annoying one.
You don't have to search in your ps3 Web Browser. Unless you want to check to make sure they are both the same.
Your IP Address & Default Gateway Address? (which one did they request to have via email again?)
Should be listed under / found in your router or modem set-up page, go over to your STATUS page after accessing the Managment URL for routers. If you want that information for a modem only set-up - google your modem and figure out which address URL is probably going to let you look at this.... as ISP's really don't like you tweaking their default settings (or give you any sort of options as you can only look at the information) you may just want to call them up and ask them to ping your modem and do some tests on it to make sure it is working properly and has a current firmware.
Let me stress this, you want a DOCSIS 3.0 Modem from your isp (i'm pretty sure that the ISP are the only ones modem manufacturers release firmware updates to, so if you own your own modem and it is old, be aware)... as 2.0 modems have a known issue with placement on ISP hubs, meaning your speeds and stablity suffer when you are customer number 30 on their HUB/router....everyone before you gets priority.
Possibly ask them to verify the MAC address you have provided to them, as they like to know this.....IF YOU connect to your primary PC it is most likely that MAC ADDRESS (if you change PC's, but don't tell them the new one [MAC], it slows down your speed) [this is also why you have the clone PC MAC address on routers] but if you are just connecting a PS3 to your MODEM for a NAT TYPE 1 connection (most have NAT 2), you will probably need to provide them with your PS3's MAC ADDRESS, otherwise you end up in their set-up phase and never really get the speed you should be.
IF this is still in the next build, I'm going to get more vocal about that post about how this is also a dry run for them to fix a major bug in a timely fashion....how about they beta test that system....it would instill some confidence in me and get me thinking of spending more than a token amount of money on the game.....as of right now confidence is at all time low and so is my spending potential.
EDIT: While thinking about this, CCP any plans for IPv6 switch the world has been putting off, that should end nat translation problems? You don't have to answer, sony has been mum about this as well, not to mention they keep delaying its roll out and deployement even though we all have everything ready to go in our computers/ devices....well maybe not the ps3 it is built from the best cheapest parts available in 2006 and revamped for the slim. |
