Just an observation here, but for the past 3 builds, I've basically only EVER seen small missile turrets on tanks, dropships, and LAV's. Aside from the base variants, no one seems to use blasters or railguns, they are entirely suboptimal compared to missile turrets. Blasters require pinpoint accuracy, which makes no sense at all when you consider depleted uranium rounds fired from a 50 cal turret cause a kill vacuum, meaning that you only need to shoot in the general area of infantry to cause some pretty nasty damage (and, future...FUTURE!!!). Blasters should have an almost cylindrical area that they cause damage in, with the damage increasing the closer you shoot at the target. This would make them a much more effective weapon, especially on something like a dropship or LAV that's always moving around.
I'm not really sure what to do with Railguns as I virtually NEVER use them because no one EVER fits them, on anything, ever. I just wanted to voice my opinion that either missile turrets are way too good, or the other too are way too underwhelming. It's kind of silly even having the option to put anything but missile turrets on your vehicles right now, and I kind of giggle when I see them, personally. |

I have decided to fit small railguns after a while because they are much faster and they shoot where you aim at. You dont have to aim as much before and over a target as at missles too. |

ive had bad experiences with railguns, by the fact that the gun mounted should indict it does way more damage then an AR but I do noticeably more dmg with AR then the vehicle mounted railgun |

Blasters are a joke, I'v watched my gunners with a 20GJ Neutron blaster unload on a single infantry and fail to kill them. They seem to do less dps than a militia assault rifle. Railguns are also very very poor. I stick with accelerated or cycled missile launchers. |

blasters are AV turrets. they have the highest dps and are very easy to aim at a vehicle. |

He speaks the truth. Was manning a small missile in a Soma today, and the pilot used his Blaster to shred another HAV in nothing flat. We were at point blank, but it still took longer for my missile to hit the smoking wreck than for him to get the kill. |

Has anyone here put points into turret skills? It seems stupid to me that the person calling in the vehicle requires skills to fit the weapon, but that person may be piloting/driving and not manning the gun.
Perhaps there should be separate skill trees for people who want to man turrets v. people who want to pilot vehicles that have them.
I don't speak with authority - haven't bothered to put any skills into vehicles. It seems silly to me that you would have to fight several matches to field a single vehicle. If I was a mercenary (and not just playing for fun), why would I ever spend more money on a match than I could potentially make? |

I put points into small turret skills for my LAV, if you are a good driver, dont do anything to crazy and you have a gunner who is good you can go an entire match without dieing. There are alot of factors to make that happen but its possible. At the moment Ive only put them into missile turrets because I dont have anyone good enough to use a railgun for AV purposes and most people wouldnt want to gun for a small blaster LAV. |

I used to fit a one missile turret and one blaster on my dropships so that if there was ship to ship dog fighting, I could just point the blaster side at my enemy in the hopes the gunner would take him out. Worked if everyone had mics but most of the time someone would get in, realize they were on a blaster and bail; not realizing they could've worked a missile launcher too.
I think the rail guns have too much charge up time and are too inaccurate. Last build, they seemed useless. The current build seems to have improved them somewhat but I doubt I'd fit them on a dropship unless as a center/forward mounted gun that was pilot controlled. *hint, hint devs* |

Maybe you should chek this thread out as it deals with Rebalancing the Small Turrets.
