Hey CCP devs....... I appreciate all the customization options and everything with Dust, but the game feels like it's trying but failing to be like a different game on the market. Look up a game called "Section 8" and it's sequel, "Section 8: Prejudice".
Yeah, yeah, the graphics are nothing to write home about and the gameplay is pretty average at best. However...... they do a bunch of really interesting things which are far more streamlined and easy to use compared to Dust. Look at the way in which you can select deployable items, vehicles/mechs, turrets, anti-air cannons and the like. Also look at the spawning system, where you rocket into the stage, and how the anti-air guns deployed by the enemy affect that.
Section 8 and it's sequel may not have been great games, but they had the makings of outstanding games. They just didn't have the budgets to support them (partly due to the fact that they also had single-player modes). Dust does. Take a good, hard look at what those games do RIGHT. Investigate how the more complex mechanics are streamlined for ease of use. Look at spawning, items, shooting...... everything, really. Then think about how you could incorporate those things into Dust or improve upon them for Dust. This may involve you rethinking the nature of your gameplay a tad, but seeing how generic Dust feels as a shooter and how it really only seems to innovate with loads of customization and the other menu stuff, that may not be such a bad thing.
Overall the changes I'm suggesting implementing are pretty mild, but drastically improve the overall gameplay experience and solve some of the current problems (i.e. spawning and spawn-camping) as a result. They'd also add in some much-needed variety in terms of gameplay to prevent it from further digressing into the awfully generic experience it has become. |

Agreed, drop in system was awesome. The way you call vehicles and stuff was pretty fast and awesome; way better than going through menus the way Dust does it. |

i have mentioned section 8 also. the running was cool and the spawn method was a lot of fun. and if you could drop onto someones head, instant death for the unsuspecting fool. maybe ccp should hire some section 8 devs. that game had some really good ideas. |
