You have no idea how much this pisses me off. Look, I understand why the PC gaming crowd is going to cream their undies over this. Mouse and keyboard support gives for greater accuracy in an FPS game than any controller ever could.
..........
...... but this is not a PC game. It's a PS3 game. The fair majority of players are going to be playing with their controllers. The idea of using USB keyboards for some auxiliary commands in a game is one I like....... so long as it's for auxiliary commands ONLY, i.e. extra fluff that can't be mapped to a controller for a greater variety of gameplay options for more advanced users. NOT as an alternative to the controller itself.
Mouse/keyboard support is going to make this game heavily unbalanced by giving preferential treatment to the players who use them over controllers. There is no way around those players having greater control and accuracy than the rest of the console gaming crowd. The use of mice and keyboards is something frowned upon by the console gaming community because of this, and has led players to get banned from the Killzone 2 servers for good reason. I understand giving options to the player, but I refuse to acknowledge any options which unfairly unbalance gameplay.
At this point I think the best possible move for Dust is to have it be a PC game first, and then get a competent PS3 build for it later. I know people are going to be butt-hurt over me saying that, but it's probably what's for the best at this point, and the only way we'd get a truly good version of Dust for the PS3. Don't get me wrong; I'd love to have a game like what this was advertised to be on the PS3. We need more creative, complex shooters out there. From the looks of things, though, CCP just wanted to make a PC-based FPS and what we're getting seems like a really messy port of one for the PS3........ except it isn't a port, it's the actual game itself. |

CCP considered that, and decided to go to PS3 for more options for other communitys to learn about EvE and what not. ALSO! may i remind you, that a keyboard costs 10$, and a mouse costs.... what? 9$? mow a yard or something if you don't like it.
It seems you suffer from some reading comprehension issues. I didn't say that I didn't have the money to buy a mouse or keyboard. For what it's worth, I probably have enough money to buy everything you own, but that's neither here nor there. Perhaps you should buy some books and learn to read. ;)
What I WAS saying was that a console game should NOT have mouse/keyboard support as an alternative to the controller, because it makes the gameplay unbalanced. Again, Killzone 2 players have been banned from servers for using mice and keyboards. It's considered cheating in the console FPS community. |

So, again, i'll state that everyone who knew this game was coming, wanted it to be a PC game in the begining ANYWAYS. Now, again : If you don't like it, you can GTFO, or grab a keyboard and mouse, OR get better with the controller. plain and simple. As for myself, i prefer controller for infantry, and keyboard/mouse for vehicle.
That's a stupid cop-out. Perhaps you should learn what it means to be a beta tester and grow the hell up. Learn to think for a second before you troll, eh? |
