Look at PlanetSide 2, its been in Close Beta for about a month if not less, and they lifted the NDA today. Dust 514 has been in Closed Beta since April, and its not even "close beta" anymore when you give ANYONE the ability to join by buying a Merc. Pack, or going to the PSHome and obtaining a key. Yet, we still have a NDA...RIDICULOUS if you ask me. |

Well, I'm sorry, but I'm starting to agree with him. Dust 514 is a bit too shi.tty right now, I was and still am hoping the best for it. But its taking so long, and there are way too many problems with the core gameplay mechanics.
Now I'm not talking balance, glitches, or bugs. But I'm talking movement, responsiveness, hit detection, etc. I'm looking at the PlanetSide 2 beta, and I'm seeing way too much improvement being done much quicker. And the game is looking and playing almost like a retail version right now. And its been in Beta for just 3 weeks, still months to go before it done.
I've been playing this beta since April, I've seen lots of additions, and improvements to the general gameplay, but NOT for the core gameplay mechanics. At this point, I'm not really sure if this is because of CCP's lack of experience in the FPS genre, or the fact that the PS3 maybe too shi.tty for what CCP is trying accomplish, or that CCP is taking it too slowly.
I still hope this game succeeds, and I'll keep playing it till launch to see how its going to change. But if Dust 514 launches like it is right now with the broken mechanics, and all the other issues. Its gonna be a fail, and I would really hate to see this game fail because its got such an amazing concept.
And back to the main point, I kinda see why CCP is keeping the NDA.. |
