It would really suck if when dust 514 comes out a few months later the ps4 comes out so what is ccp planning to do. when ps4 comes out will they switch it up to ps4, keep it on ps3, or keep on both? |

Sony consoles have a long life-cycle even after the next gen had released. Look at the PS2.
Due to the loss of revenue by the PS3 trying to remain backward compatible originally, I do not know if Sony is looking much into stay backward compatible. Fortunately, DUST is a DL game and should most likely run on either PS3 or PS4 due to software specs alone. |

I believe ps4 will be announce end of this year or next year. Then it will be release in next 2-3 years. While that's been said. Enjoy Dust 514 while it last for ps3.
They will probably leave it for ps3. Because it's an exclusive for ps3. Who knows. |

EVE has been updated over the 10 or so years it's been around. It's gone a whole new graphics engine and support for new shaders, plus 16-18 free expansions worth of new features. The 3D in-game models have been completely redone 2-3 times now. There will never be a EVE 2--CCP will just keep improving EVE over time.
DUST will be the same way. I wouldn't be surprised if they made a PS4 version at some point after the system is out. They've said they think of it as basically a very specialized EVE client instead of a separate game in the normal sense, and it uses the Unreal engine, which will probably be ported to PS4, so I doubt making a PS4 version would be all that difficult. It's not like they'd have to make a new DUST 2 game, they'd just have to get DUST running on PS4 (presumably with improved graphics).
It's already connecting to a server used by EVE on PC, so the cross-platform part is already in place. |

i totally forgot all PS1's blew up when PS2 came out and all PS2's blew up when PS3's came out.
If there was only some way you can keep your consoles... damn..
anyways if they really wanted to upgrade it dust 514 can go to the PC platform anyways, even in Linux and mac if they really wanted too. |

Whenever ps4 comes out (won't be any time soon) dust will transfer straight to the console. Download the c lient on ps4........enter details.......pick up where you left off on ps3. They designed dust with a simple client transfer in mind, they stated that many times. |

Yes. And we can have faith that CCP will be able to deliver as they have been making a very successful game that runs on a platform where technology advances by big and little steps every year. I don't game on PC but it is almost like asking, "Will I still be able to play EVE if I upgrade my PC and maybe get a new graphics card?" |

As for the console switch, Tribal you obviously have 0 understanding of computer, yes the basic effects work but simply stated you can't just dump stuff over because the people doing R&D **** everything up every single time they switch things, it's like being a mod maker for minecraft every time notch, EVERY SINGLE TIME! |

Uh-huh... Seriously you created this thread? Oh the stupidity. Every generation it's the same thing -- worry about when the next hardware will arrive. It will be announced, and launched when we get to that point. Seriously the PlayStation "Orbis" is probably two years away from release. We'd be lucky to see Sony announce it next year even. Especially considering they [Sony] are planning on releasing a new "true" slim of the PlayStation3, and due to the fact that Sony seems to be in a bind with money issues over the past couple years now -- I highly doubt they are in any rush to expend large sums (hundreds of millions) to release a new console. If I was heading Sony I'd extend the duration, and find a way to reduce cost of the hardware, and lower my initial costs, and losses. While keeping the console price itself reasonable.

I have 0 understanding of computers?????? Dude I build computers for a living, and programme computers, I also build custom gaming rigs and am on call for PC maintenance 24/7. So please don't insult my intelligence. |

Apple had to get in bed with AT&T for a couple/few years exclusively because the product was unproven. They gave each other a mutually beneficial deal
Now, they are expanding service across multiple carriers. Dust, as a game & a concept, is unproven. Sony gave them a good deal for distribution but they needed to make it exclusive so both companies could benefit.
That arrangement is probably defined with some time limits. And when it is up for renegotiation, if dust is rocking then other options ( like Xbox or pc) could be on the table.
