I was in the Starhawk beta d and Dust 514 has the same spawn-camping problems of Starhawk. I din't buy/play Starhawk because spawn-camping & base ravaging are game-breaking issues for me.
I foresee spawn camping to become the number one method to win a match in Null-sec when the reward will be wining a planet: no rules so everything permitted. Frankly EVE is renowned to allow unfair tactics and spawn-camping fits perfectly in that scenario.
I think spawn camping miserable but I can't deny that if you want to win easy, without spending tons of money, it's the perfect tactic. |

You din't play Starhawk beta did you? Spawn-camping & base-ravaging where the norm in the beta because the spawn system allowed it, because the spawn system was poorly conceived. I myself was very active on the beta forums asking LBI to change things, it din't happen, and spawn-camping was still there at release and players started to leave because they din't enjoyed the game. We are in the same situation here: the spawn system allows spawn camping and since rumors are we are 2 builds from release nothing can be done now because redesign the spawns system is a colossal work. It took CCP 3 builds and 6 months of beta (internal and closed) to fix the "Spawn bug" so imagine how much time it will take to re-design the spawn system entirely. Now players that leave a game due to spawn-camping is already bad but for a MMO that it's supposed to go on for years having spawn camp as the norm is going to be a death sentence.
@Jimbo The point is that CCP said us to rely on DU because the spawn system is easily exploitable for spawn camping BUT DU have weaknesses as well so in the end we have a spawn spawn system that offers no protection whatsoever to the player. I don't see the bright side in this.
2 systems: one is broken and the other one can either be a perfect tool for campers or a tomb for spawners. |
