Let me start out by saying that I love this game, not so much for what it is but for what it will become. That is the reason that I offer any feedback at all on these forums. I am not by nature a forum ***** and don't much give a **** how many likes I get or what anyone things of me.
Corp v Corp battles as they were presented this time might as well be a random ambush match. Regardless of whither you call them "corp" battles or not, you are forced to play with randoms. No Corp is going to accept a contract if they can only field 5 or 6 players when the match starts. Of course we don't know how many people weren't able to connect or had the stuck loading screen or the invalid bug.
I understand that you may be also testing some of the faction warfare stuff in connection with these battles. My point and the point I have tried to make in other threads is that corp v corp battles will have little meaning till you put player corps into the game. The NPC corps when the game starts will be filled with thousands of RANDOM players. Since a lot of us are already in clans or corps that means our friends are all scattered. We want to play with the same people from match to match and I don't mean a 4 man squad.
I have noticed in regular battles while they are still initializing, that whole squads have been quitting games, maybe due to their other squad being on the other side? Could this be contributing to the number of games when you are stuck before getting into a match or loosing connection and timing out of the battles?
On a side note, it would help greatly with voice coms if the the defaults were voice coms on, team selected, and push to talk off. Most games there are only one or two players on coms. I suspect that a big reason for this is that there are squads on ts trying to sync when they join a match. |

About the prize or bonus sp and isk to be given, seems to me that giving the sp to just the winners will just further unbalance any future tests of corp battles. They won because of skill and already being able to field better fits, another mill sp will just let them max out something else with the losers never being able to catch up and obtain parity
I quit the last amarr match last night. Why, because when I joined the match we were out numbered with snipers and tanks, including STB-TED, parked as close as they could get to our spawn point. After dying twice trying to get a look around the corners of the buildings I decided f this s*** and quit.
The Amarr won either our first or second match and have lost every other match, usually in a slaughter due to tanks. One match they had a tank sitting in the middle of the road with 2 logistics behind him healing him as he took damage. Managed to kill one and run the other off and the tank withdrew for a minute and then returned and continued the slaughter. The match we won was evenly balanced without all the tanks and we won with a few ticks left on our armor.
I hate losing but I don't mind going 1/8 when I at least get a chance to fight back. I don't like going 0/12 when there is no chance.
Don't know exactly what CCP is testing here because they haven't said. In my opinion these tests aren't very good in that they don't give any type of info except on how hard it is to get into matches with so many people in the corps. Participation from the Templars wasn't what it should have been. There was no communication pre match and no way to do that if you wanted to unless you already have a TS server and were willing to open it up to the randoms in your "corp".
STB seems to have solved the problem of grouping by having all their members sign up for the same faction when they created their chars. There seemed to be 3 or 4 of them in every match against the Amarr and they were usually in tanks or dropships.
Player owner corps will fix some of these problems. Prematch selection of players for the types of fits they can bring would happen. You would have the players you need in the numbers needed or you just wouldn't take the contract. These things can be done on our own personal corp forum .
Dust voice coms seem to be working, at least in the corp matches people were generally on coms. It is hard to tell why almost no one uses coms during the regular matches. |

The only currency that really matters in this contest is sp, the isk is irrelevant to the outcome of the matches. Maybe a sports analogy would work here. Lets say a runner wins a race by .5 seconds and as a reward in the next race he will get a 10 meter headstart. Guess which one will win the next race? Awarding sp to only the winning faction will just unbalance any future matches just like my racing analogy.
Why does it matter now? Unless CCP is going to do another wipe before any other tests of corp battles, then the uneven battles will continue and participation will decline because the matches are meaningless except to gain information for the DEVS. I could use a mill sp but I don't have to have them to be competitive. I have 11 or 12 mill isk so I don't really need the mill they are giving away. I participated to test corp battles for the DEVS and for no other reason. |

Dude, you are in an npc corp. If you think it will work out good when the game launches you are seriously deluded. There will be 50 k or more players in each npc corp. As far as my corp being organized, my corp isn't even in game yet because CCP hasn't seen fit to include player run corps. Nobody in EVE or DUST gives a **** about npc corps and the only ones that care about the factions are those who do faction warfare. Even they are mostly in player run corps and do ops together rather than a group of randoms. |
