1st battle I was in went pretty well actually, but there were a couple issues:
- I got in from the Merc Tab, not the Corp Tab
- Lots of radio chatter about lag - I experienced some, but not too bad
- Couldn't use the Market after the match (not sure if it is related)
- After letting the market timeout, the entire NEOCOM quit working
- Finally restarted and now I see another CvC with my corp is in progress but again was in the Merc tab
We lost (barely) -_-
2nd battle was a lot worse for me. My biggest issue that game was scoping in using sniper rifles kept doing that zoom in/out flutter thing. I haven't seen that since R4 came out, but it made it practically impossible to play - I wasn't clipping either; I died a lot trying to just shoot from flat ground.
We lost again. :-(
Over all it was a more intense experience - lots of very good players were playing so it was a lot of fun. About half were on comms (which is way better than it usually is). Hope to get in to more tomorrow!
PS - let's try that VITA NEOCOM - you gotta need some alpha/beta testing for that soon! |

That being said I'm somewhat biased since I'm pretty confident Minmitar won and Gallente (me) came in second.
I'm trying to find the answer to this one. Some folks on other threads are suggesting everyone who played will get mil/mil. I wish that were true but I'm guessing it's not (based on the way the info was presented).
On that note, I completely agree...No...I 'more' agree than you do with yourself, because...some of us who made time to play for their corp and basically got slaughtered by tanks the entire series (all three days)...and didn't have anyone who could field a descent tank...a few of us that tried to play hard...will get shafted for trying against folks who already have more money (time)...I guess I picked the unlucky straw...
anyway...there should be NO drop off IMHO. The game isn't balanced enough yet to start putting up contestable prizes. It will only hurt the desire for folks to want to keep testing and continue providing good feedback, especially when they are not allowed to pick their own Corps yet etc.
Don't let this go to pot now - EVERYONE's been trying; not just the winners!

Well there should be some drop off. The whole idea of the corp battles is to win the zone for whoever is hiring you (or at least it is in theory) and showing off a little. It's still a beta so I'm not sure the 1mil ISK/SP even matters that much to be honest, I just figure if you're going to give prizes, you shouldn't give a huge prize for first and then absolutely nothing for second, etc (for the reasons you pointed out) but it also shouldn't be "everyone gets a participation prize regardless of outcome" because that's the antithesis of what Corp battles are.
When the game is live, I couldn't agree more! Right now, with how hard it is to get SP, 1mil to just the winner (as you said,) is ridiculous. During these initial tests, though, I do believe everyone deserves at least a participation prize. Winners get more, sure, but... |
