So that went well. Basically it seemed as if we were allowed to choose a game of skirmish for once this build.
And other than the match where one side had half the players as the other, no real noticeable difference between corp. battle and otherwise. Except for maybe the match with 5 tanks. But have seen that in insta battle as well. Oh, the pay seemed a little better.
Based on this trial would say the entire corporate contract and battle mechanic really needs to be fleshed out. UI must be vastly improved. For these really bare bones matches it was like, sit in merc quarters and wait for a battle to flash up on the NEOCOM and try to get in as fast as possible.
I can see that factional warfare would be interesting but not like this. I always imagined it would be more story driven. That we would take contracts from NPCs. That there would be some visuals of going to a specific planet, an explanation of our contract, some kind of goal maybe? And there really should be some contracts and matches on maps where tanks are the least viable strategy.
The most interesting things about the corp battles were:
-waiting for one to pop up on the battle finder. That was kind of like a mini game.
-imagining how this would play out once the full game was implemented.
-return to the "unbalanced" match making of the last few builds, but with persistent squads.
-hoping that CCP were getting done what they needed to get done.
-no crashes or bugs of any kind.
*edit - Will add that lag, frame rate drops, and hit detection problems were severe at times. But not any worse than when things get hairy in the regular battles. These problems did not seem specific to corp. v corp. faction battles. |

Perhaps I just need to take a long break... idk. You are forgetting all the people who spent money on aurum and the merc pack. They are paying to play a beta, which is all sorts of weird. Granted it is their choice.
If you wanted to test how players used AUR in their natural habitat you probably would do exactly what CCP did and have a bunch of people sign up using a merc pack sort of thing. If you just gave players free AUR you would get some distortions in your data and would not be testing "real world" conditions. Not that that is what CCP is doing. Or even that it would make sense to do that. Seems to make more sense to tighten up the game mechanics, and so on before the economics.
But who knows.
I feel like we must have been testing some sort of system in these Corp. v Corp. battles and hope CCP is getting their data.
I guess we all saw one thing happen today, and that was the Amarr getting their asses handed to them. |

Balance this shite man so frustrating lol, whoever the clans were you are total dicks -_- True they shouldn't even count thoses matches 4 vs 11 there's no chance of winning and mimi are rubbing it on the face of amarr if they don't fix it I suggest if getting into a match like we have describe then the hole team should just get out and not waste the time and keep doing that until they fix it.
Don't know what sort of war it would be if everyone had to wait around for enough members of the opposing team to show up just to start fighting.
Look, there has to be some sort of cut off for this "We lost, game is so unfair." stuff. I say make it at the border between high and low sec space. If the Amarr were too lazy, or forgot the time or if the dog ate the note that they wrote down the time of battle on and they were unable to sign in enough clones to fight then too bad.
On the other hand, if there were enough people trying to sign in and the game just didn't send them, yes, that should be fixed.
But if you went to your local chat during corp. faction wars it looked like it was all members of your corp. So get in the chat and get people to get in battle and not miss the boat.
Basically looks like Amarr lost because Minmatar was much more well organized and had a lot of people all prepared to fight. Well, that and rumor has it magically appear to spawn camp before the Amarr had even spawned in at the first point the first time in one battle. That sounds like it kind of sucked. |

1. Vehicle controls should be altered. I believe the driving controls should be R2 to go forward, L2 to reverse, left analog stick to steer, and the right analog stick to look around. Keep triangle to switch seats.
2. It is much too slow to switch to the sidearm. I actually wish it wasn't mapped to R2 as well. Triangle would be much better. Make the right analog stick switch stance. L2 melee and R2 grenade.
3. The reload animations are a bit too long in my opinion.
4. I think the maps should look different based on the atmosphere of the planet. Fire, Ice, Forest, Desert, Storms, Snow. You could also have ancient cities, refineries, villages, architecture of the different cultures, mines, etc. Variety is always nice and should set the maps apart.
5. All the classes should have unique weapons and abilities that help the team. Assault is useless right now.
6. Additional cosmetic variety between classes and enemies. Should be able to look at player and tell what class they are playing.
7. Aim assist and voice chat should be enabled by default.
8. Higher default looking sensitivity.
9. Camera should be farther away from character in HQ.
10. Improve textures and effects
11. Grenade indicator for friendly and enemy grenades. Make indicator different colors.
12. Hit boxes need to be adjusted.
13. Reloading while running would be great.
14. Stamina meter is a bit annoying, would prefer unlimited sprint.
15. Hold breath while sniping if not already possible.
16. More class based game play similar to battlefield but on a greater level so people work together more.
17. Engineers can build temporary structures such as gun turrets
18. Press down to open a scroll wheel to select a vehicle or structure with analog stick. Look to Star Hawk for inspiration.
19. Traditional menu would be nice with a server browser and from there you can choose to go your HQ. Would have all the features and options available when you press start. HQ feels sort of gimmicky to me since its so small.
20. Orbital drop system for spawning would be awesome. I know it is in both Section 8 and Star Hawk but it makes sense in this game since you are working for the Eve Online players.
I have a feeling this is going to be an awesome game when all is said and done. :)
What does any of this have to do with corp. v corp. battles, specifically? |

From bare bones to nothing, nothing at all on the US server at the posted times. 15 minutes past time for US server corp battles and the Battle Finder is quiet and empty. Summer vacation is over. Get it in gear. |

I have to admit that the corp v. corp battles were some of the most rage inducing, humiliating, disorganized and obscure battles I have been in. And I am for some reason looking forward to more.
I think I just really like the idea of a battle where each side throws everything they have at the other side in order to try to pull off a win.
I also really liked that the battles were fought by the players that showed up. Outnumbering your foe is the most tried and true OP and unbalanced thing of all... but it felt more... real somehow.
And I keep thinking up ideas for strategies that could work for next time. There's got to be a way in this current build to take all the points against a bunch of tanks without using tanks. Just got to be.
Also, now that corp. v corp. battles are over, everything else feels like a time sink and grinding sp to get the next level of module or dropsuit. |
