We are definitely open to seeing some interviews hit the front page within the first few weeks.
We will soon open the Classified section to all interested parties. If you want an interview exclusively for your clan or group, let's talk dates via email: [email protected]
Or you can talk to me through Enjin. |

One of the key things GNN will be focusing on primarily is Clan / Corporate affairs. Rather than muddle with the game details and general things most other DUST blogs seem to enjoy, GNN will focus all of its attention of the dynamic relationship shared between clans and corporations via warfare and Alliances.
If a corporation beats another corporation, you can expect GNN to report it. If there are major operations and major clan engagements...you can expect GNN to give all the gritty, dramatic details.
We encourage community participation. Use the "Letter to the Editor" function to submit your own idea for a story.

I take it as a silent complement. Besides, once we get into reporting full activities....our superiority will speak for itself. |

No worries there, comrade.
Rest assured this is the original GNN. We won't concern ourselves with game details....only the community. |

Check out the one i linked above, it's Dust and EVE, will give you a much better overview of the bigger picture rather than any Dust only or Eve only sites.
People and the community can decide for themselves. That is what makes a good news organization; that it responds to the needs of people. Not to the perspectives of one or a few people.
The Mittani can continue to do whatever it wants, and hell we might even get part of our news from the site. But the point of The Mittani is not to incorporate the ideas of its viewers into the news. You called me Fox News in the other thread, probably just because you see this as competition with your website. Fox News is the corporation that doesn't listen to its constituents.....unlike what GNN is planning on doing.
You're welcome, just as everyone else, to join GNN's site and contribute your own thoughts. |

I can promise you that the entire purpose of GNN is to:
A) Facilitate, fair, easy-to-understand, objective reporting on game events for the community (not game details, in-game EVENTS)
B) Provide a foundation on which clans and corporations can both work with and against each other, vying for attention and recognition
C) Do what the other blogs don't do....report on what people want to hear. How do we judge that? We let anyone who wants join the GNN Website to post their own ideas or thoughts in the Classified section. |

We will definitely use the forums as a means of keeping people connected; but our main articles will all be on the GNN site. These will mostly just be links to them and general updates. |

What theme would you prefer to see? The one in use is Enjin's "DUST / EVE" theme |

Now that I think about it, a community sponsored header theme would be awesome. Would have to find the right individual interested though. I'm not much of an artist, as you can tell I'm more of a journalist. |

I mean, that's an awesome picture, but I guess I'm just surprised you don't have a Megathron or Abaddon up there, or something.
Because I'm not an artist... LoL
I honestly actually need someone to either submit a piece of art or get someone from RG to do some freelance work for me. |

Maken Tosch wrote:I can see this going places. But if you want any tips, I would suggest improving the site a bit.
People who read the news generally don't like the forum layout. Therefore it's best to have the news posted in a prominent location that catches the eye. Take a look at Eve News 24 or The Mittani News as prime examples.
Also, if you want to stand out from the rest (who also report on corp/alliance affairs), it's best to establish connections with the corps and alliances so that you can have the latest scoop on something other news sites don't already know about. One way of doing this is talking to the directors of the corp/alliance in low-sec or null-sec or even the famous ones in high-sec into letting you join their roaming fleets. Some will have strict guidelines on how to record (FRAPS) videos without giving away too much intel on the fleet you're in so make sure you consult with them on that. One player in Eve Online has done this before and mentioned that it was a rewarding experience so long as you get use to some players who don't trust you in their fleet because they think you're a spy.
Getting connections is very hard, but in the end it will benefit your news site and help establish your presence better with the players you roam with.
EDIT:
I just realized that I was writing in the context of Eve Corps because there are no roaming fleets in Dust 514. So, unless you have cloaking mods in Dust and have a video recording software in your Ps3, well...
Thanks for the tips! We will probably use the forum only as an archive. The main blog post (what we call the front page) does categorize things but not in an easy-to-find format (unless you know the name of the article and you can search for it).
And yes, I know we will definitely be in contact with other groups / corp leaders. What we need to focus on right now is 3 things:
1) Building a base of competent, writing-proficient reporters (minimum of about 4)
2) Establishing physical links with corporate groups; such as members of guilds who act as official GNN reps or as people who talk exclusively with GNN on affairs
3) Finishing the website setup. |
