Why are militia weapons 3.5k?
10 of those is 35k, out of my 450k isk... that goes quick... especially since i have to buy OTHER parts of my dropsuit as well! Holy moley. This game forces you to grind off of matches before you can invest in ANYTHING. |

I haven't even bothered looking at other things because the economy is terrible. Even 5 custom fittings a match will still put you at a loss!! |

The prices in the game (rather the server) are matched with that of the current currency prices in the EVE Online server. This is probably CCP's plan to get players to understand that most of the weapons that are going to be for purchase are partially made by those space cowboys flying above us. War is expensive, and right now it's showing profoundly.
Militia gear isn't that bad anyway, plus it will save you money. ALL militia weapons (with the exception off the vehicles in the Militia Gear Tab) are BPO's (Blue Prints Original) meaning you don't have to buy 100 units of them, you just have to buy one. |

Are we going to be able to get BPO's for the weapons in EVE and ship them to our characters (or our buddies) in Dust? Cause that would be awesome. |

CCP said that you can save up ISK using a militia fit when you are low on cash, and then use a more advanced fit, and repeat. I don't think they are intending for us to roll in Prototype suits 24/7. |

True, and this is exactly my point. This is the conflict that Dust players are going to see when the game is fully connected to the main server. The only way Dust players can combat and protect themselves in this conflict of monies, is the save up or think smart about buying items.
Don't forget about Salvaging and Loot gaining, and eventually market selling. These might be our only ways we could make some "pocket change".

I agree that things should be expensive to keep people from running around in full prototype gear in non-important battles against newbs, because advanced and proto stuff should be for important battles. That being said, the cost of equipment is TOO D@MN HIGH! I should be able to use standard suits with mostly standard equipment/weapons, and still make a slight profit; I can't the way things are currently. |

Yeah, and militia gear is far more effective than rookie ships. You can actually kill stuff with militia gear.
This advice works DUST as well as it does in EVE: train core skills first--things like mechanics, shield operation, weaponry, light/sidearm/heavy weapon skills, engineering, electronics, etc. These skills may not unlock new gear, but they will make you more effective even in full militia fits. By the time you have those out of the way, you'll have more money, and you'll be more effective when you strap on that better gear than if you'd raced for it right away. You'll have also developed skill and experience as a player that will help you die less.
This is just like EVE newbies that race for battleships right away, but neglect core skills. When they finally get into a battleship and spend all their savings on it, they lose it because they can't fly it effectively and then they're broke and have to go back to frigates and do it all over again. |

in eve there's several thing you can do to make isk, but so you will be able in dust, who said you need to fight all the time, both in dust as in eve you can sit in ur quarters 24/7 and play the market.
you lads make it sound easy to make money in eve, dispite the risk of being killed 24/7
cosst prices in EVE are alot higher too, like 1 milion for a turret and you need 8 of them, battleships worth more then a billion and then not even fit something on it.
don't compare the prices between EVE and dust. in EVE easier to gain ISK ; True, but the prices of stuff are ALOT higher aswel.
then appart from the fact that on the release you will be able to accept contracts from EVE players, again a dent in EVE-players their wallet straight into yours, making Dust players basicly bloodsuckers of EVE-players.
if you or your DUST corporation are good in what you do, you will be able to accept contracts worth over a billion aswel created by EVE players.
there's realy no reason to complain about monetairy gain between the 2 games. |

I'll toss in my .02, right now because its beta, the computer is setting up the contracts, where we are fighting, what ways, etc. It is my understanding, and i could be completely wrong, that when this goes live you will have the eve players issuing contracts as well as the computers. So for example if the caldari faction wants to take over a system in amar space they can hire dust mercs to hit plant x. They would say set the contract at whatever isk, and then whatever dust corps want can claim said contract. In theory, if what i am thinking if right, then dust players should earn MORE isk based off the contract price. Again this is JUST a theory as i have no idea if that's how it would work. But seeing as the biggest benefit of eve is the free market and CCP wants the players to control it, then that makes a lot of since. Esp if the eve players are going to make dust equipment as well, then you will see a massive fluctuation in pricing. |

Once high end contracts are available from EvE players you wont worry about these prices. These prices are likely the standard for highsec and some lowsec matches. In nullsec you will likely be able to run and blow thru protogear. |

The npc economy has higher prices than the expected (not yet implemented) player run economy. Its in the dust manual. I also foresee low sec and null sec to have higher payouts than the current npc contracts.
Personally I feel that for the meta game to work (risk vs reward), it should be stupid to jump into a npc contract using advance gear. |

Player economy is a long way off. It won't be in the initial release based on that recent interview.
Stuff needs to be expensive. You're supposed to always be low on ISK. Then when contracts roll out you'll actually take a strong interest in them, because running random crap battles won't be enough to pay the bills.
Plus it helps keep the game accessible to new players, because vets aren't constantly rolling prototype, steamrolling them with crazy gear+skills combinations. |

Actually, yes, Vets WILL be rolling in heaps of prototype stuff against newbies. Because they will have better kill and better skills and more 'player experience', those just sort of all stack together to let them farm the newbs.
I do like the idea of 'expensive to encourage contract missions', though. Especially if there's some freestyle way to fill in positions on fights hosted by EVE players. |

I don't think they are intending for us to roll in Prototype suits 24/7. I've been rolling the default set ups for 5 matches in a row. Buy 10 VERY basic set ups, and go broke again. There are other things like skillbooks that are stupid expensive now too. There is no easy way of farming. 60k or so takes 30-45 mins to farm. (1 match) |
