When your ps3 inevitably crashes and you need to pull the plug, don't pull the plug.
Hold the poweroff button for 15s and it will turn off safely, with a severely reduced chance of HDD corruption.
Try it next time, much better than pulling the plug. |

But when holding the power button doesn't work, you have to pull the plug. And yes, that has happened a few times (and I know it happened for other guys too). |

I tend to turn system off instead of quitting game. Not had to pull the plug since.
Btw good 1 vs 1 the other day bendtner. I loved the moment I ran over to you knowing I'd won. Then I pulled my SMG. Forgetting I didn't have one. My Nanohive didn't do the job. D'oh. Gg |

Do not pull the plug from the socket if it's needed. Pull it from PS3 |

Lol yeah that was a good fight. I was frustrated that you could hit me over that little hill, because I couldn't see you at all. Then you charged at me and I knew I was sold, so I just wanted to make a last effort with my SMG. To my surprise you didn't fight back and I was like wtf just happened for him hehe.

Well, duh, but sometimes pushing the power button doesn't work. When it hard locks, I've held it for over 30 seconds before and it wouldn't do anything.
I've found that as soon as it seems like it's locking up at the loading screen, just turn it off by holding the power button instead of trying to "quit game" or even a soft shutdown first. Trying to quit the game seems to lead to a hard lock where you can only pull the plug. |

Thanks, i'll try it next time. Every time I freeze on DUST, I always end up having to pull the plug on it. It's a joke. |

only older machines have the extra power switch. My newer one does not. ( I have both older and new - bluray died on the old one but it still plays dust/DL)

Yes - this has happened a couple times (not many) but when it does, the old hold down the power forever trick does NOT work. It is quite annoying! |

Good for you, but that doesn't change the fact that I had to pull the plug a couple of times because holding the power didn't work.
