Well I had a few games, and at first this is very overwelming.
Seems like a lot of people here are familiar with Eve, or have been playing the beta for awhile
I guess some tips and advice is a good place to start
I do have some questions
1) I was just scrolling through the forums and found some interesting topics, and reading through them I kind of sratched my head lol. I saw something mentioned about singularity is now live. Meaning Eve players can get in touch with Dust players.
Is there a way for Dust players to contact eve players? Can only eve Players contact Dust players? Can we be hired by corporations now in the beta? If so how does this work?
2) Is there any good clans out there that dont mind someone who is new and willing to learn, and am very fimiliar with other MMOs, and FPS games. (Im 32 male, First MMO I played was Star Wars galaxies lol I konw... and first online FPS game I played and quickly addicted to was Battlefield 1942)
3) Been browsing the market, and skills, at first it is a lot to take in, but I am starting to get the hang of it. However earning SP at the end of a battle is going very slow. Is this common? Also earning money I get maybe 50-80,000 ISK at the end of battle. From reading some forums I am understanding we can make more from companies/corporations from Eve Players. How to go about doing this if possible?
4) I have bought some skills, like vehicle piloting. In the BF games, I am very good at tanking, and flying, so I know after some training, I will be deadly on the battlefield, but is there specific things that are ideal to put skills into from the start. Give that extra boost for a noob going up against already xp players. Such as maybe focus on getting my dropsuit higher lvl,
I know it is customize to your playstyle, but just advice, or tips could help.
I read the sticky thread at the top of this section for people new and confused, but I didnt really find any of my questions answered. I am sorry if these have been asked before, I hope that this will not only help myself, but other new players as well.
I look forward to playing this game. As I been saying to my friends I think I found my new battlefield.
5) Again since I am new to this universe, if someone could maybe post some Eve lingo and what it may mean. Common terms and/or abreviations that are commonly used in Eve/Dust that may come up a lot. That way I can better understand what the hell people are talking about.
Any helpful links to my questions and comments are greatly appreciated it. I look forward to playing with you all, and cant wait to get the full experience of this games.
Thanks for your time Krynn
I'll answer what i can.
1) yes, you can send an eve mail to an eve player and visa versa. Also if the eve players are in your system you can chat with them in local
2) lots of good clans or corps as eve calls them in eve. Seems to be some starting for dust but this functionality is not live yet.
3) when its in, an eve member can give you money. Not sure about any other way. I have not delved into the beta too deeply yet.
4) IDK.
5) oh boy... here we go (alot of this will not be related to dust as this is pure eve lingo but you asked for it:
POS: Play Owned Structure or Starbase Pod: Your escaple pod in eve, the last thing before you die once your ship goes pop Pop: ship blowing up HAC: Heavy Assult Cruiser BS: Battleship MoM: Used to be the old term for a Super Carrier, now its a SC. Dread: short hard for Dreadnaught DD: Shorthand for a titans super weapon known as the Doomsday Device Rat: Can either mean an NPC Pirate or a Player Piarate Prat: Player Pirate (old school term) Pirate: minni professtion in eve, someone who kills non pvp players or carebears to take there items. Noob: you should know this CEO: Head of your Corp or Clan Corp: In other games these are called clains or guilds. Alliances: Groups of Corps that hold 0.0 space 0.0 space: Lawless areas that are mostly player controled with a few excpetions Sov: short hand for Sovernty, or the person who 'owns' a system Egg: short hand for when you deploy a plyer built outpost (also old school) Outpost: Player built station. Dictor: Shorthand for an interdictor, its a type of ship HIC: Shorthand for Heavy Interdictor AF: Short hand for Assult Frigate cloaky: sometime term for any ship that can and does cloak AFKCloaker: Someone who sits in a system and is cloaked 23/7 GF: Good Fight Clone: Your backup when you 'die'
yea thats all i can think of off the top of my head. There are other terms like Goonie, CFC, DRF, which describe coalitions of alliances. But honestly most if these you should not hear in Dust. |
