I feel like its a bit harder to control the Dropships. The problem I find is that the ship is way to hard to level out and causes it harder to land (and cause major damage to the ship) and the gunners have a harder time to shoot. What I'm requesting is that the dropships level themselves out. other than that the new physics of it are fine.
Although this is just a request i dont want anyone to think this like hand holding it would just help the gunners a lot. |

All i can say is practice the pysics and controls are fine and i would personaly hate a self leveling system as i have ben known to turn the dropship on its side and let the gunner loose on everyone below.
Landing i agree is difficult and although i can do it it is by no means a quick process i mostly prefer to hover just above the ground and let the soldiers climb on.
The controls are fine the hardest thing is practicing with them cause the dropships are very expensive and can be killed so easly the one thing ccp neds to do is lower the price of militia dropships so newbies can play with them |

Flight training is indeed rather expensive, just like in real life. I broke about 2m ISK worth of birds mastering them, and though I don't crash them any more I'm still not half the pilot I plan on becoming. But you know what? I really like the fact that piloting is a player challenge equal to the gun game. I want a role that I can be proud to master. I want great pilots to be respected in game right along side the best shooters. Dropships shouldn't be dumbed down to simple ferry boats for anyone to hop in and fly.
Right now flight training isn't rewarded in game. You aren't going to get a single SP practicing landings and basic control and at first you won't even break even in ISK. But if you really want to fly and you believe dropships will have an important role on the battlefield, then now is the time to start. We have at least one more reset coming and player skill is the only thing that will make it to the other side.
Don't start training without enough money to fly regularly. Just as in real life frequent training means less forgotten and less relearning. Then pick your matches carefully so you don't have to dodge SL's before you can. I find that the original spawn point on Skirmish is generally devoid of anyone and safe to practice in. Keep far enough away from the redline though.
I posted a few tips on the flight controls and physics in another thread and I'm thinking of writing a more comprehensive guide to flight training. |

I hope they add a training camp or a simulator or something so we can play around with stuff and practice piloting. |

I've also enjoyed the new physics a lot. So far I didn't get to have a very positive impact on any match, but the flight mechanics are challenging and fun. |

CCP, you should make the dropship physics somewhere in the middle between the current and the first. The first were too arcade like and the current are too fighter like. Dropships should be like helicopters that can pick up people without destroying itself at the try to land. |

You should change the name to "Dropship Physics" that would fit more becuse you could mak the controls however you want and you couldnt fly really good. |

I've tried them out a few times and found them exponentially more difficult to fly than in the last build. I got good enough to land but nobody wanted to get in.
I foresee that this will take a long time to get used to.
I have a lot of respect to anyone who can use the current dropships - not that it will stop me from sending some swarm missiles your way. |

Th dropships now are perfect the only thing ccp can dod is add in my types (air supperiorty, attacker) currently we only have a support dropship able to give lifts for everone and kill some people on the ground though not very effectivly
Landing is difficult but doable last build all the flying was done without a thought this build u need to think a bit. |

Have the changes stopped or at least heavily reduced the usage of dropships as bug squashing tools? It's hard to tell if that's due to the physics changes or the militia dropship being no longer a blueprint. I'd have liked to have the physics changes, get used to those and then switch it to a 1 use thing, but hey ho. |

I hacked a dropship from the enemy team earlier got in, went up a couple meters, went back down because i couldn't pilot it for the life of me and I agree with Stile, the dropships last build seemed a lot easier to maneuver |

Squashing is deffinantly harder but no impossible so yes we pilots do rely on good gunners more then are bellies i do miss the blood dripping off my belly though |

I find it hard to aim when everybody is running around so much, so it would be great if you made that easy too. Automatic tracking and aiming would make it so I didn't have to practice in order to kill everyone.
Come on people! What is wrong with having to actually work at gaining a skill? EVE and DUST are supposed to be deep and specialized. Call in a jeep if you want to drive somewhere fast, but don't expect to call in a helicopter and fly off with no practice.
Why should gunning be the only true player skill in the game? If it is going to offer support roles then give us some challenge to go with it! I 'm not going to grind for months for the SP to buy a top tier dropship to just ferry you around the battlefield if you could just hop in with no practice and do just as well.
Let us pilots have some pride in what we do. |

yes custom controls. i actually like that it is tougher to control, but i do not like fighting against the controls. first, the setting that is supposed to invert the camera controls actually inverts the forward and reverse. second, the camera likes to spring back to center which makes looking down (it is a "DROP" ship) very difficult. when looking straight down it is dificult to turn the ship, so you have to look level to turn easily.
need to make it like bf2 controls on the consoles. left stick is strafe and throttle up/down. right stick is basically camera controls mimicking the same crosshair control as on foot. but full customization would allow us to alter anything to fit what we want. but PLEASE REMOVE THE RETURN TO CENTER ON THE CONTROLS. same with the lav. the worst part of vehicles is constantly fighting with the controls. |

The controls are tricky and very sensative but once u get used to them ull be doing flips and barrelrolls my fav is hovering sideways so the gunner is litteraly staring at my called target lol who needs voice i make the gunner seat become a pay attention or get killed by an assult rifle |

BOTH... I find them stupidly difficult to handle... for a "helicopter transport" type they're not very much like a helicopter. Although not having everyone in one "ironing people" is a nice change. The earlier post suggesting they're a bit too hard now is probably about right but we don't want them too easy either. Somewhere in the middle would be nice. |
