First off, this is an expansion of my last topic, which you can read here: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=33250&find=unread (Summary: more people need to wait out the time between getting shot down, and respawning, giving their teammates time to revive them)
So after I finished working on that topic, I started thinking, man, it is really boring just waiting around for a teammate to revive you, is their anyway to make it less boring. (Hear me out on this) So I started thinking up of a Final Stand type death sequence, where upon approaching death, you are given a pistol ( no assault, smg, or those types of weapons) to shoot at your opponents with. You only get 6 shots to fire with, and it does not do a large amount of damage, it would have to do a little less then the militia Scrambler pistol (which does 70 damage, so more around 25-30 per hit for this weapon). It would still allow you to help your teammates, and it would also allow the opponents to not have to worry too much about downed opponents, since they would not do too much damage, and they have limited firing capabilities. The normal bleedout would also apply as well, Im not gonna let you stay in Final stand indefinitely.
Let me know what you guys think, what might be more feasible, or if this just needs a little tweaking for it to work |

That would have to make sure that the pistol was knocked down to stock lvls during said "Final stand" because with the right upgrades even the militia pistol is quite the beastly weapon in the right hands. I like the idea though and the 6 shot max would help with limiting the abuse, as long as you can be forceibly bled out. Interesting idea on the time in limbo between life and death. |

Did you know that you can shoot someone while they're bleeding out so they can't be revived? Pretty sure that's all that final stand will result in.
We could let people continue to use whatever sidearm they had, but without being able to use the sights or reload. Maybe they can crawl around and try to suicide people with any grenades they might still have. Or just crawl toward the logi if we get the minimap indicator of where they are as suggested in the other thread. |

I did not know about the first part, thanks for the info! And as for the second part of your post, allowing people to continue using whatever weapon they had is way too OP. If you have ever played MW3 (where my idea of final stand originated), people do not expect final stand, so you can just spray your weapon and get a kill very easily, and I dont want that in this game. Thats why I like the pistol only, you should not be able to get a kill using it unless your opponent is very low on health, it would be more of a support idea.
However, Crawling toward the logi if we get a map indicator, would be a very useful idea, I hate trying to get to someone far away, just to watch them die right before I get to them. Being able to crawl toward the nearest guy would hopefully cut down on that, and allow for more revives |

I've never played Modern Warfare multiplayer, but as I understand it it's a very "get shot twice and you're dead" type game, so spraying at someone close to you gives you a decent chance to kill them.
DUST isn't like that. You have shields and armor, so the guy doing his Final Stand will only kill you if you walk out in the open in front of him without letting your shields recharge. I wouldn't expect it to get a lot of kills from anyone but the completely unaware. |

No on the final stand, but I like the crawling idea. Also would like it if you could drag someone to cover before reviving them. That sort of like army of two. That way you both.don't get mowed down while doing the revive animation |

Yes Modern Warfare is very much a shot twice and you are dead type game. And the issue with Final Stand, is that everyone is unaware about it, you never expect it. With Dust, since everyone would be expecting it, since everyone goes through it before dying, I can understand about not getting many kills from anyone but the completely unaware, I just want to make sure it doesnt allow you to get 2-3 kills before you die, so it may be a case of having to hip fire and not reload, just so you dont get everyone getting kills while they are down. Although you do say let them keep their sidearm, what about the ones using the Heavy machine guns, which have high clip size (most around 300 ammo per clip), they could just spray till they bleed out, and have a very good shot at getting kills, even with hip firing. Thats why I think a universal weapon would be best, even if it is just the militia assault rifle, or the scrambler pistol |

The revive animation is quite fast right now, you pretty much press R1 when having the Nanite injector out, and 2 secs later, your teammate is up again with 30% of his armor. A drag system may be useful, but how fast would you alllow them to drag someone to cover? The mercs seem like they would have a lot of equipment weighing them down, not allowing you to drag them to cover quickly |

well technically when your down in this game your dead otherwise people would be able to kill you so you cant defend your self if your dead. when your down your dead but have no major damage to any vital components so someone can use the nanite injector to fix you up. how ever after a while the brain gets damaged without any oxgeon well thats what I think the bleed out is. |

Well remember, I said "sidearm". That means scrambler pistol or SMG. Logis don't even carry a sidearm, we just get a light weapon slot, so we wouldn't be able to Final Stand at all. I could see allowing light weapons (ARs, Mass drivers, etc), but definitely not heavies. I'm just not a fan of some special emergency weapon that you can only access when you're dying. If I had it I would've used it before I got shot to death.
We could ignore the shooting thing all together and just try to suicide bomb our killer. If a dying player still has a grenade let them pull the pin on it so they blow up themselves and, hopefully, their killer. Or maybe an alternate method of suicide where your suit blows up and damages anyone nearby. Don't use it on the logi trying to revive you! |

Lol to the whole suicide bomb thing, that could work, just the blast radius would have to be fairly small, another MW3 complaint is about an ability called Martyrdom, which upon death, dropped a live grenade. It seems to always have a large blast radius compared to the normal grenade, but it seems like a very good idea. As long as they didnt over do it.
As to the first post, using a light weapon might be the best idea, compared to just a pistol for emergency. would you let them reload the sidearm? Or just have them use 1 clip, then it is over |

Good idea but I think if you get a headshot on them they die since, in real life, you would be killed from a headshot. |

Damn, always call it that, and so no reloading? I think I could live with that
(Dont know how to quote 2 posts in one reply, so this is the guy above me's post) Good idea but I think if you get a headshot on them they die since, in real life, you would be killed from a headshot.
Headshots dont work like that in video games, they are more damage multipliers (MW3 for example, gives you a 1.5x multiplier for headshots). Prevents lucky players from getting those spray headshots for OHK |

I do like the idea of being able to crawl to cover, but how about just being able to look around? Even this would be able to give you something to do while awaiting resuscitation. |

I think it's a bad idea. After you get shot up so badly that you can't even move your head, you shouldn't be able to fire a weapon. |

The real reason this was even raised as an issue was due to the problem of people suiciding before a logi can get to them. When we have teams, comms, and expensive loadouts that people don't want to lose reviving will be a lot more common. If you're bleeding out in your 300k proto suit I feel pretty confident that you'll hang out for a while and pray for a logi-bro to come save you. |

I read Templar one (basically big dust backstory) and from what I got out of it all the clones have nanites in them fixing wounds and what not. When they get too banged up there nanites start to run dry and that's why a nanite injector works like a revive tool in other games. In reality the medic is t shocking you with a defib so much as resupplying you with little repair bots who fix yu up

+1 for looking around. Forget the "last stand" stuff, I just want to be able to rotate the camera around so I can see me surroundings. At the very least, I might be able to spot an enemy and warn an incoming medic of a potential ambush. |

Also, make the press square to 'call for help' transmit a pre recorded message and make your icon flash a different color. Let the guys with nanite injectors know you're hanging tight for revive. As it is now medics get mighty discouraged running after dead guys just to have them respawn when they get there. A little bit of communication would help |
