I know its cool and all, but whats the point of it? The drops are INSANELY good and need to be toned down a bit IMO. I joined a TDM game, didn't even get to spawn because it was already finished, and landed my self a cool 5x Eryx. Now if/when you give us the option to sell it, this means that EVERYONE will be back in proto gear. As it is, I find the market pricing for general items 'alright', not everyone can afford to roll in GOOD gear. I believe you guys have been holding back on the ISK gain from games because we have this new salvage feature? I don't think this is the way to go. You shouldn't be able to salvage 5x random ships from a game that you had no part in (even if you did play in a lolambush game). I think that you should have only these 'officer' variants drop (with a 1/100 chance or something), aswell as other non-market place goodies, not material goods. Please stop the insane salvage drops (proto/sargaris/eryx) and give us back our ISK gain. However I do like it how it is though where you need to be careful with what gear you use.

The salvage feature is obviously still in an early state, and I highly doubt what we have now is what we will get on release. As you said salvage is currently completely random and that doesn't make sense at all. In the future I expect the salvage to depend on the number and type of gear that has been deployed during the match by both teams, and maybe also on your own performance and on what you managed to destroy. Similar to how the ISK payout is working. |

Agreed. I also think we won't be getting vechicle/suit drops frequently if at all in release. I do suspect that we will have some % chance of getting an item equiped on a vehicle/drop suit that was destroyed during the battle. Think about it you kill a merc the drop suit he/she was in is probably junk but the modules may still be usefull, provided they weren't hit by bullets as well. This logic goes for vehicles as well. The reason I'm not willing to say that you get drops based upon what you kill is that in such a scenario logi and command players (not to mention dropship and LAV pilots) would get pathetically little in the way of salvage. The fact is they don't kill much after all. This would disincentivize playing these roles which are essential to creating a team ethic and would shift the emphasis back to K/D. |

Here's an idea. Instead of vehicles vanishing into thin air when destroyed, hows about they remain in that position, destroyed for around, 5 minutes? Enough time to run in and grab and parts or modules not damaged by your weapons used to disable it? I reckon this would encourage a lot of AV investment. Im saying this when i drive tanks! @ Mobius, same idea with the dropsuits, good shout fella. However, if say a few people were given the task of actually collecting salavage, i think 85% of profit made from salvage should be given to the victor, not the scavenger. |

Because after about 10 mins you'd have the field littered with vehicle husks. Let's wait till a somewhat finished version comes out.
@ Kleanur Guy, from time to time you get some really good loot but there is more times when you get nothing. |

It salvage will be anything like eve and I assume that it will be. the salvage you get will be based on what the people you kill were using. you kill a person with a bunch of gear and you get something they were using. |

Salvage is probably geared towards as of now just getting some basic gear like DMG modifiers ect but when launches will help fuel large scale corporations who have to fund dropsuits and with the ability to get t2 and proto gear would help that and well we could sell the items on the market place for ISK ever fueling the cycle of losing/buying!
I think the only items salvageable should items lost on dropsuit load outs! so think about it if you die 2-3 times a game and you have proto gear its not actually lost but just switched owners! I think their should be a skill that will increase what you can salvage and what level of gear and as well the amount! so for example if in a particular battle an accumulative loss of assault rifles was lets say 150 combined that includes BPO T1- proto, so one of your salvaged oriented skills would dictate what percent the chances of you collection higher level gear so example would be lvl 1 would be you have greater chance to gain T1 level gear and a very very very rare chance to salvage someone who lost a proto type rifle! and as you increase the skill you close that gap on high tiered salvageable gear! Another great idea for an salvageable skill would be one that would increase the amount of items that can be salvaged for example t2- proto you would get only 1-2 but basic t1 gear you can get 3-5! but as you dump SP into this particular skill it would greatly increase that ability to salvage if available items of that particular type because if only one person during battle lost the only proto type assault rifle and you salvaged the skill could not effect that because only one of that particular assault rifle was dropped during the total duration of the battle. last skill that could theoretically be made would increase how many slots are available to salvage for example right now we salvage 1-3 items and each have about 1-2 quantity. so this skill would give you more room to haul gear off the battlefield making battlefield scrounging somewhat viable!
for TLDR
salvage skills
1. A skill that increased the probability of getting T2- proto gear over t1 or basic gear.
2. A skill that increase the baulk/quantity of the items salvaged.
3. A skill that increase the amount of items slots available to salvage. |

We don't need a mechanic where people salvage in battle. You salvage afterward, which is handled fine as an automatic thing. Having everyone run over to a tank and loot it in the middle of battle would be silly and is not a good idea.
The way loot works in EVE is if you blow up a player ship, all modules and cargo have a chance of being intact and showing up as loot in the wreck. In DUST all that loot could be randomly assigned to players however.
Salvage/loot should probably only go to the winning side, though. Whoever wins has time to scavenge the battlefield afterward. The losers won't be around to get loot. It would also make people care more about actually winning instead of just going for kills. |

I did not mean you would have to use the salvage skill during battle, the skills are passive and work once the battle is over! just some passive skills that help you loot some good items

I like this idea of salvage going to the winning side. Also loot tables should consist of armor and modules that were used in battle on both sides. Also should hopefully be minerals and datacores that Dust Merck can use to manufacture gear. I can't wait to set up some planetary industrial plants making weapons and armor and dropships! |
