Hey, I've only been playing since the Playstation Plus Beta went live, and while I've enjoyed the game, I gotta admit that I've had some confusion about the skills and how to expand them.
I'm not assuming that I'll have a weapons master that can use any kinda weapon possible, but I am trying to expand my capability with AR's... Now there are the skills I started with, but when I switch over to the complete listing of every skill, I find that there are a whole host of little skills that can boost things like effective range or reload speed... things I'm definitely willing to spend SP on.... but while I've got the SP needed, I can't seem to get those skills... Am I missing something?
I tried searching for things here on the Forums, but I guess I haven't put in the right string of words just yet. |

Check out the prerequisites in the skill book to check which skill you need to learn first in order to use that skill you want. |

when you buy the book generally if there is a red x you dont have the skills for it and you need to look into what you need to train to get there.
if you see the book icon there you can use it and start training it.
check out the weapons store etc and expand the skill info on items you intend to use so you can make a basic plan on what you need to train . |

Points aren't the only prereq. Before you can put any points into Forge Guns I you need Weaponry IV, for example. Make sure you have the skill prereqs too. |

also, once you buy the book, you have to USE it.
so the process should go something like this: learn prerequisites -> purchase skillbook with isk -> use skillbook -> upgrade skill with skillpoints. |

You have to press X a lot of times. One day a "purchase, use and learn skill?" option would be nice. |

sometimes its best to train into one area like assault guns and medium drop suits and get all the relavent skills up to lvl 5
me i perfer to be a jack of all trades and train so i can use a few different dropsuits and a few weapons. training a skill from lvl 1 to 3 is quite cheap (points wise) lvl 4 and 5 take a lot more points generally (i have noticed the points dont scale in the beta as they do in eve, yet prolly. |

I wish it was like that for all the skills, Minmatar Logistic Dropsuit is a bit of a problem (for me at least, since I'm strictly logistics.) 1 --> 2 = 327,680. 2 --> 3 = 573,440. It's a pain sometimes |

I found that simply staying in groups (preferably with a heavy or something) and being in the middle of the group helps. Having both shield extender/recharger helps out a bit too. |
