If you guys could do two things, I think it may make the game better, but that's just me, I'll try to present them in as coherent a fasion I can.
First, if you can make enemies pop up that are trying to kill you, that'd be great. In that, I mean on the mini-map. It seems that at the moment, the only enemies that apear on the mini-map are those that either you or your allies can see, and that's cool, but I can't count the number of times I've died from someone shooting me, and I had no idea where it was coming from to try and avoid it. Ussually happens in the back of me. If you're going in the intrest of realism, well, if a soldier on the battlefield heard someone shooting from behind him, he'd probably have at least a vauge idea of where that person was. Also, if it's a sniper, a soldier would probably see the muzzle flash, even from a long bit away, farther than the game is rendering at this point.
Second, if you guys could implement some kind of Log-off, or character switch mechanic from the Merchs Quarters or on the Neocom, that'd be great. I have 2 characters I work on on a fairly regular basis, and switching between the two without having to restart the game from the XMB screen would be nice. |

The game already tells you what direction someone is shooting at you from. It's kind of subtle, but when you're hit, a semicircle with an arrow facing in the direction you were hit from appears briefly in the center of the screen. It also continues to track for as long as it's on the screen(about a second), so while you're whirling around to face your opponent you won't get disoriented.
I normally disagree when someone makes a request only to have a bunch of people say, "WELCOME TO NEW EDEN HTFU NOOB," but seriously, the minimap thing would just dumb down the game. As it is you can usually get brief glimpses of nearby enemies even when no line of sight has been made; you just need to internalize the last known position and extrapolate where they most likely are from there.
As for your second request, it's been made several times before, but apparently fallen on deaf ears. I suppose we can only hope that it'll at least be in the full release.
Basically, DUST skews a little more "hardcore" than your regular FPS. Is it as "difficult" and "complex" as people make it out to be? Hell no, you'll be surprised how quickly you adapt, especially when you ditch your old notions and start experimenting. My advice? Play lots of games, don't get upset if you die a lot in the beginning(all stats are going to be wiped for release anyway), and memorize the maps. Once you get a sense for sniper nests and common pathways between locations/objectives, you'll be able to avoid or engage at your discretion. |
