How do you think they will work?
I for one hope its some cool visor effect that scans the battlefield before me,but that might be asking a bit much.
But in honestly,I would see it as something one would place down as a large pulse emits, maybe highlights players and enemy through walls?
Maybe something for the mini map?
What y'all think? |

As the radar stands now, we don't need any active scanners to highlight the enemies on our mini maps. |

They might identify loadouts of enemy players. How you'd usefully present that information I don't know... |

The active scanners are likely going to have 4 general areas, "Lock on" "Radar/Detection" "Information gathering" (like what equipment that tank has or player usefull stuff you can use later) and finally it might be paired up with EWAR stuff, so it might be used as maybe a way to lock on when someone has you jammed or maybe there is going to be a passive scanner which can allow you to shoot missiles at tanks without them getting warnings, once again anything that isn't implemented in Dust514 just look what is done in EVE and take guesses. |

My guess is recon; you place one of these on top of a cliff facing your group's blind spot and it allows you to see enemies sneaking up on you. Couple with some remote mines and you have a good counter sniper measure. |

Maybe they are to counter some upcoming stealth modules, I bet many of the scout and assault builds could really use those as there are snipers everywhere.
Most of the snipers seem to be pretty unskilled tough.. And when the whole enemy team is lined up as snipers in some hill, it's pretty fun actually to pop them up one after another with militia sniper rifle. |

In eve, a cloak messes with speed and lock on time, -80% and 30sec delay to fire if I remember right. Dust equivalent would be 1/5 movement while cloaked and sniper rifle sway with all weapons. Could work for swarm, grenade, mass driver, or logis, but most builds would be gimped so bad it wouldn't be worth it. The good cloak, covert ops, could only be used with certain ships and could actually boost speed if skilled high enough. The stealth scout, may be a special suit, and maybe a logi or assault stealth variant suit will get the good cloak. In eve, the black ops reduced the penalty from the bad cloak, it didn't get the good one. So, the black ops hav may be similar. |

If CCP does it like Eve then each race uses a different type of scanner; Radar, Gravimetric, LADAR, or Magnetometric. Other then that I ain't speculating. |
