In my experience, dropships are damn near invincible when they're in "Zip around" mode. And destroying one practically relies on the enemy making a mistake.
So I ask you, how do you properly take down a dropship with a forge gun (Hard to aim) or a swarm missile (Missile tracking makes it easy to dodge)?
Am I doing it wrong? |

In a good confrontation mechanics, it should be skill vs skill. Or tact vs tact. And the player(s) with more should win. Winning in the case of the dropship would be providing greater services to their teammates.
If a player winning relies solely on the enemy making a mistake, that's bad design. |

Okay. Not to be a jerk, but dropships are not nigh invincible. Infact compared to nearly every other vehicle they are paper afloat in mid-air awaiting to crash and burn. Seriously.
My advice to you --
- AV (Anti Vehicle) Grenades
- Swarm Launcher
- Forge Gun (Situational)
Otherwise? Hook up with dedicated heavies, and steam roll them. I rarely see anyone having trouble anymore with dropships, and amazingly I have not seen them squishing troopers either. Weird right? Anyway only the best and most aware operators will out manuver and avoid death. Those are an increadibly exceptional few populated by only those whom dedicate their character to dropships.

Its easy to make mistakes in drop ships, if hes evading your swarm/ forge without losing control or hitting a building; Id say hes a damn good drop ship pilot. |

Possibly me, I often use about 1 good dropship depending on conditions and steamroll the jeeps and tanks then if they are crafty enough to eliminate me I drop my throw away ship on the outskirts. Generally about 5 or six throw away militia to one myron. |

Have you worked out a good way to avoid swarms, then? They still almost always get me. |

I have. The way the tracking works is that the swarm launcher releases the missiles, the missiles head directly for the location of the dropship and then adjust to continue heading directly for it.
They never lead their target and this makes them easy to outrun.
Has anyone here ever played Pacman Championship Edition DX? It's a lot like that. |

Not efficiently but I haave managed to skid behind buildings and land outside of battlezone with shield rechargers also swarms suck at penetrating shield extenders once the peirce your shield you are dead tho so since I have around 2300 shield and 1700 armor [shields 2 armor 2] I'm pretty good along with militia modules like rechargers and damage resistance mods.so it removes about 20% in total average damage allowing for 7 direct hits from average swarm launcher before panic. |

My Grimsnes can take quite a few punches, armor-3240, shields 700, with armor enhancements, my biggest threat in the air are blaster instillation and decent forge gunners. Swarm launchers are easy enough to evade, but a guy with a forge gun and the skills to use can really annoy me. |

Right, but, how? It's obviously not something that happens automatically, because swarms usually hit me even when I see them coming early enough to start trying to evade. So what do you actually do to evade swarms?

Full speed ahead, you will outrun the missiles, if you're desperate pull a hard turn and head towards the nearest building. |

Ask yourself: why bother? Dropships are useless now. Is he doing anything useful for his team? Or is he just flying around? Either way there are targets on the ground far more important to take out. |

yep i can confirm that and i think the swarms vanish after a while of flying after you. So its not like in the E3 build where they keep following you as long you dont loose them on a wall. |

Railgun turrets suck this build. I don't know what exactly they did to them, but it seems like they fire a slow-moving projectile now? Either way it's very, very hard to consistently hit a fast-moving drop ship with them.
But a railgun tank, yeah, they'd be decent. |

Exactly. Ignore me. I'm no threat. I'm actually just learning to fly what is turning out to be a tricky but rewarding aircraft. Hopefully when we get more game modes, I'll be able to put these skills to use.

You get 6 passengers on comms, then I'll be scared.

I'd be excited to get one passenger, on or off comms. No one seems to want to get in my Viper.

For practice, stay as high as possible. Gives you more reaction time if something goes wrong and keeps you out of the way of buildings.
